I wasn't sure if this was a good heading for this letter, especially since I am suppose to be all busy out here. But, there was so many crazy, fun, exciting things that happened this week. I will start with the biggest news that I am sure you all know by now. I was able to call home this morning. It was so awesome! I can't believe they are letting us do it. I think it will be good though. We got an email on the 15th telling us that we would be able to call home. We thought the second coming was about to happen!
Next big and exciting thing to make this week fly by was Birthdays. Yup plural it was both mine and Elder Griffin’s birthday this week. His was on the 13th mine was on the 14th. Seems pretty crazy that we happened to be together at the same time. We went to a sushi place for his birthday. Then we waited a day to go for mine because I wanted a steak and it was super busy that night (Valentines Day) at all the steak houses. Well, it was good celebrating with him as well.
One of the biggest things that happened this week was while we were on trade offs with the other Elders here in Jackson. So Elder Proudfoot came with me that day and we were pretty much jumping back and forth from my area to his. Any way we went to Jeff Williams’ that night. We taught a good lesson about following the Prophet, sabbath day, and the big ten! We showed him a video of President Nelson’s talk; he seemed to really like it. The best part of the night, I starting asking him how he was doing on smoking he said “good.” So, I asked if we could take his smokes so he wouldn't have any to tempt him. It was awesome! We are so excited for him to get baptized in March. Also in March the Teachout boys are going to get baptized so we are busy teaching a lot. We have so many people we are teaching right now.
We have been pretty blessed with the people we have been visiting here. On Valentines Day we went to a ladies home just to read some scriptures with her. Well while we were there another lady named Lavonne walked in. She is so awesome!. We got her to agree to us coming over to her house and teach her. The majority of the people that I have taught on my mission have had a background of Jesus Christ. Well Lavonne doesn't really know much about him. So it is pretty fun to teach her. We talked about the gospel of Jesus Christ. Once we were done with that she still had her Book of Mormon open and said okay what else do you have to teach me?
As we talked to her about the Restoration and the spirit you could tell that she was feeling the spirt. She loved the feeling of peace that she got when she heard us talk and watching a video. There truly is a power in God and the love that he has for us. He wants us to be happy. The greatest thing about it is we all can find out for ourselves. Continue to find the peace, love and joy that you all have felt.
Thank you all for the cards and love you gave me for my birthday!
Love you all, ELDER WILLIAMS
