family and friends. Another week down, out, and in the books.
So, Thursday <i style="color: rgb(29, 34, 40); font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">CARNAVAL</i> started.
I know carnaval is different in different parts of the world, but here in
Argentina, it is only really celebrated in 2 provinces. Here (Jujuy) and <i style="color: rgb(29, 34, 40); font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Misiones</i>.
Here in Jujuy for 3 days they party, drink excessive amounts, and go drive up
to the north of the province. There in the north, Saturday night, they "<i style="color: rgb(29, 34, 40); font-family: Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">desterrar</i>"
the devil. Then Sunday, the party slowly starts to wind down until Tuesday, it
finally comes to an end.
The grand problem in
all of this is that EVERYBODY left Alto Comedero to go up north, which resulted
in these last 3 days being the most boring ones of my mission. Man, we
contacted so much but I would say that 1 in every 20 houses we knocked had
someone in it. Haha but thank goodness it all ends tomorrow.
So, last week, we went
to Belgrano to start interchanges with the bois, Elder Jones and Elder Hatch.
While we were chilling on their 5th floor balcony, at about 10:30pm, a gigantic
grasshopper flew into the apartment. Without hesitation, Elder Ecklund grabbed
it, lit up the frying pan, and we cooked up the grasshopper. Split it down the
middle, Ecklund got the top half and I got the bottom half.
Unforgettable mission moments hahaha.
We also had
interchanges with the assistants on Thursday!! It was so hype, I got to go
with Elder Blackburn, one of the guys from my group!! Fun being with one of the
Then on Friday, we had
interviews with President. I asked him if I could stop being Zone Leader this
next transfer because MAN I'm a little tired of being in charge of the zone,
hahaha. Done with the sister missionary drama and the disobedient Elders. President
says I'll probably train another new missionary these last 2 transfers,
whitewashing again. HYPED.
This week Pablo and
Lorena finally get married!! Friday!! Then on Saturday, they get baptized with
their 8 year old son Tiziano!! We will be missing the monthly leadership
conference on Friday with President, the assistants, all the other Zone Leaders,
and the Sister Training Leaders, because Pablo and Lorena asked us to be the
witnesses in their wedding!! Pictures next week!
