What did the bean say to the bean? -How you bean? What did the dune say to the dune? -How you dune? What did the bean say to the dune? -How you bean dune?
Lol.
Annnyywwaayss, how have y'all been doing?? Solid week this week? Saw the hand of the Lord? Saw some major miracles? Had some times when you really had to trust in Him that everything would work out? And then He came through and everything ended up working out?
Same.
This week has been SOLID y'all. So full of some AMAZING miracles. As I've been wrapping up the last few weeks of my mission, things have NOT slowed down. On the contrary, they've picked up so much. The Lord has been absolutely blessing us.
Starting out, we had some killer meetings this week. This tuesday we had a mission tour with President and Sister Elbert out in Waycross GA. And it was SO good. They are the absolute sweetest people to grace this planet. So personable, so loving, and it was just such a solid meeting overall. The main points of discussion were the Doctrine of Christ, and the Atonement. The two most base principles and foundations of the gospel. President Elbert gave us a super insightful discussion on the Doctrine of Christ. Then they let the big guns out. Sister Elbert stood up and talked about her life, struggles, and how she's had to trust in the Lord through it all. Now her story is inspiring. This isn't going to do her justice, but here's a quick summary.
For the entirety of her life, Sister Elbert has been super into music. Choir, opera, singing, playing the piano, teaching piano, you name it she's done it. Music was her life. But probably about 20 years ago, she developed some disease that causes your skin to shrink and tighten up around you. This caused her to lose almost everything she loved to do. Her hands were unable to move, she can't move her mouth as much as she would need to, her movement and usage of her body overall has been severely decreased. Now imagine that, everything that you hold dear, everything that makes you, you, is suddenly taken away. Who would you be? She told us for a while, she felt empty. A shell of who she was. She wasn't herself. She was filled with fear. But through a variety of spiritual experiences, and more trials, and more sicknesses, more doctors visits and late night cries, more desperate prayers, she came to an understanding of who she really is. And what her role is. And what the Savior's role is in her life. And how because the Savior loves her so much, because He has experienced her experiences, and has felt her pain, she didn't need to fear. She just needed to realize and accept His love.
It was so sick. Ngl made me first off tear up a little bit, and second off realize just how much the Savior really does love us and care for us. I was thinking about a scripture as she was sharing her testimony, in Moroni 8. It says,
"Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear."
Now in my 20 years of reading that scripture, I had always assumed that the perfect love needed to cone from us. That if we want to remove fear from our lives, fear to share the gospel, fear to repent, fear to magnify our calling, fear in a hard situation, we just need to love more fully. But her story made me realize that it's not about us at all. It's all about the Savior's perfect love. Because He loves us perfectly, and He demonstrated His love through His Atonement, we have no need to fear. His Infinite Light of the Atonement has chased away all darkness out of this world. Darkness now has NO power over us. So what is there to fear? And I just loved that epiphany. All I need to learn more about the Savior, and the fear will just melt off of me. He will melt it off of me. He's just so good to us.
So that was a long way of saying that the Mission Tour was so fire. Good insights and a good spirit. We had interviews as well, and those were good. Just got some good advice and insights on what I need to do coming home to sustain spirituality. So awesone day overall.
Probably the next biggest thing that happened was MLC on Thursday. We drove down to Jacksonville Wednesday night, stayed the night at the AP's, then had a solid discussion at MLC. Saw a lot of buddies, had a sick call with Brother Lee Donaldson about the Book of Mormon, a whole bunch of sweet stuff. Then we blitzed Mandarin with the AP's, had some fire PDQ (restaurant that lowkey is better than Chic-Fil-A), then hauled back to Tifton.
Then to wrap up the week we had Travian's baptism yesterday. He is SUCH a stud. We were a little worried about him Saturday night, he was going through it. He was fine the entire week, then the day before his baptism Satan hit. His cousin died, his friend stole his entire paycheck, his phone bill was cut off, he got an eviction notice, on and on. And he was STRUGGLING. We talked with him for a minute, calmed him down, talked about what Satan does, and how this is just a surefire sign that this gospel is from God. We asked Travian what it meant that Satan was working on him so hard, and direct quote from him, "I'm a baaad man". Yeah you are Travian.
So next day pulls up, and Travian gives us the trips. 20 minutes into sacrament meeting, and he's still not there. But then, fashionably late, he pulls up rocking a durag and some fire kicks, ready for his baptism. Church goes on like normal, we do the two hours, and it's baptism time.
We get it all ready, get everybody in the room, and look to find one of our investigators that we got there. Turns out one of the members wanted to be kind (bless their soul), and decided to take her home without being asked. Buuuuttt we needed her there for the baptism 😂. So we give them a call, they weren't too far, and we get Greta back to watch the baptism.
Overall the baptism was super smooth, super spiritual. Absolute powerhouse meeting, and Travian enjoyed it so much. Especially because of what he had been going through. So that was about it for the baptism. Such a good experience!!
Aaannnd that's about it for this week. We did weekly planning a few days ago and it was making me freak planning out my last week in the mish. Absolutely insane. But this last week was SO miracle filled, and this next week is gonna be AMAZING as well. We got a temple trip this next week, hopefully another baptism with Brad next Sunday, and then we drive down to Jacksonville to wrap this mish up next Sunday evening. So we're gonna grind this last week. One more week of wearing His name on my chest, one more eternity of being His disciple. Hopefully y'all have an absolute killer week, and remember that Jesus loves y'all and so do I!!
Elder Richardson

Scripture of the Week: Isaiah 53:4-6
4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
