Tifton Transfer 17 Week 4

Wadduppp!!! Holy cow, here we are, another week here in blessed ole Georgia. And it's been a good one. I swear, if there weren't gnats, 100% humidity, and 104° days, all of southern GA would just be transfigured. Straight up to heaven. Such a blessed land. But that being said, shall we dive in to a recap of this STELLAR week?? Let's.
Things have been going SO good here. We've been jampacked with lessons, doing a whole lot more teaching than finding lately which is super nice. All our people are doing solid. Just slowly working their way down the covenant path. We had a few lessons with Trevian this week, and he's doing solid. Shooting for baptism this Saturday and he's so hyped for it! Please pray for him this week that he'll stay strong!!
We've also been working with a new guy that we found this week named Brad who's SUCH a solid guy. A member brought him to church, they've been friends for a long time. He's starting his own spiritual journey and he's in LOVE with all the stuff he's hearing, learning, and especially feeling. He made some remark to us the other day that made me smile and laugh a little bit. We gave him a church tour on Friday, like five days after he showed up at church. And he just went off on how he's been up in the clouds on some spiritual high ever since he came to church. He's been absolutely loving the feelings he's feeling.
And it made me think a little bit about how we sometimes treat missionary work. For these friends, coworkers, family who aren't members, we just want the perfect scenario before we introduce them to the gospel. They need to be standing there, dressed in a white jumpsuit, clean towel in hand, in front of a font full of warm, clean water before we introduce them to the gospel. But that's not how it's supposed to be! Each one of us has such a special gift, the gift of the Holy Ghost. And the nature and role of the Holy Ghost is to touch and change hearts. So if we want people to embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, what do we need to do? Don't wait for, but CREATE scenarios where our friends can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost. Where their hearts can be touched and they can feel like Brad, on Cloud-9 from the feelings they feel. Whether that be in a simple spiritual post on Facebook, inviting them over for dinner, giving them a Book of Mormon, serving them, inviting them to meet with missionaries, a smile, there's no limit! So get out there and show off that powerful spirit like there's no tomorrow.
As my mission has started to come to a close, that's honestly how time has felt in a way. Like there's no tomorrow. And yes I know, life back home is exciting, its fun, it has so many good things, but I've been so grateful for this chapter in my life. And I've been working so diligently the last little bit to give absolutely everything up to the Lord. And let me tell you, this has been the best time of my mission. Not that I haven't been all in, but the difference between 99% and 100% in something is everything. And not just speaking as a missionary, but as a person, when one lays everything down to the Lord, that's when He can take us to the highest heights. This morning I was reading in the "Lectures on Faith", a discourse on faith by Joseph Smith, and there was a part that I've come to love.
It says-- "Let us here observe, that a religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things, never has power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation"
Now missions are hard. Life is hard. The gospel at times can be hard. Because it forces us to sacrifice. Especially to sacrifice those things that we really want to keep. But as we sacrifice that one thing that we love but we know the Lord wants, and then the next thing, and then the next thing, until we have nothing else to give, THAT is when the Lord endows us with power, and helps us to grow so much more than we would with just our 99% effort.
So this week was so solid. Lots of good work, and SO many miracles. We're not doing a ton of finding lately because lessons keep us so busy, but somehow the Lord just keeps blessing us with some sick people to work with. So overall, our people are all doing good. Keep up the mighty prayers for Greta, Trevian, Kimberly, the Height family, Brad and James!!
We also got our new mission president this week which was a little bittersweet. Sad to see them go but President and Sister Elbert are AWESOME. So nice, so funny, so energetic about the work. Definitely very different from President and Sister Wood which has been a little weird, but they're good. We did a big mission zoom call tuesday where they introduced themselves, then we did a MLC call wednesday where we talked about the mission culture, different changes, stuff like that. So a bunch of good stuff.
But honestly that's about it. Not a whole ton else to report on. Just such a good week. Keep up your scripture study and prayer, and have an absolutely amazing week! Y'all rock, and remember that Jesus loves y'all and so do I!!
Elder Richardson
Scripture of the Week: Alma 9:26-27
26 And not many days hence the Son of God shall come in his glory; and his glory shall be the glory of the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, equity, and truth, full of patience, mercy, and long-suffering, quick to hear the cries of his people and to answer their prayers.27 And behold, he cometh to redeem those who will be baptized unto repentance, through faith on his name.
