Whaaattss going on?? Holy cow y'all the time is ticking. But what a solid week we just had. Just when I think the Lord has about poured out his last miracles through the windows of heaven, next thing you know we're hit by another absolute rainstorm of miracles. For rea. Life is good y'all. Real good. How was y'alls week?? Solid? Solid. Let's get to it.
Monday
Not too crazy. Had District Pday, played a few games, guitar, sports at the church in Tifton. Then got good ole My Plan done. After that we had a FHE with the Bohannon's and Donnell, just answered a bunch of spiritual and worldly trivia questions. I've been out on my mission for too long haha, literally didn't know 90% of the world trivia questions. Then after that we had a solid lesson with Trevian. He's doing solid. Literally in LOVE with the gospel right now. And honestly through Trevian, and most of our investigators right now, I've come to such a strong testimony of the power of the Gospel. You want a life hack? You want to be happy and fulfilled? Follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's literally a life plan, with the best life coach someone could ask for - Jesus Christ. The moment Trevian made a conscious decision to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ, he's been different. He's happier. More confident. He's gotten a few solid job offers. His hand healed quicker than usual. He's loving the gospel and making big positive changes in himself. It's taken him out of his rut, and he's climbing to some amazing heights right now. And that's exactly how it's supposed to work. God wants us to be happy. God wants us to find joy in life. He's not a heartless referee, looking for any slipup, any excuse to throw us out of the game. His whole work and His purpose is to help us find joy. And how does He do that? By asking us to keep the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Simple as that. Fire stuff.
Tuesday
Solid day overall. District Council in Tifton. Then a whole bunch of work out in Sylvester. Lessons with Louise, Kimberly, Tommy, other Tommy, Jacqueline, Greta. A few contacts but the lessons took up most of the time. Tuesdays and Saturdays are our most busy days, literally back to back lessons for the span of like 8 hours. Then we had gamenight back at the church. The Vicars showed up, same with the Height kids. Solid overall. We had a massive game of spoons going on, yours truly took home the crown.
Wednesday
Meetings. Basically all day. We had been assigned trainings in the other District Councils, and we were also playing demolition control with a few companionships, so we traveled around to Valdosta and Douglas. Took us all the way till 4, then we had a tradeoff with the McRae elders, aka my boy Elder Williams. We came out together and he is a BEAST. Also literally the funniest dude I know. So we had a solid tradeoff. Showed up for a less active visit, and there was a HUGE block party going on outside the house. No block party ever scared any missionaries, so we pulled up and started talking to people. Unfortunately like 90% of them were drunk, but we did learn that this block party was a birthday party being thrown for a one year old. So everyone and their dog pulled up to party hard for this little baby. It was so sick.
Thursday
Not a whole ton noteworthy to report on. Finished up the tradeoff, did some work in Sylvester and Tifton, then ended the day with a good sports night. The sports nights were struggling in the past, but lately we've been getting a TON of less active and nonmember kids to show up. So that's been solid. Played a little bit of dodgeball and basketball. The kids that show up are absolutely insane though so it's a lot of playing damage control and reigning in kids. So fun to be honest 😂.
Friday
Such a painful day. We did weekly planning, but got interrupted like 3 times with friends needing to meet, less actives wanting to take us to lunch, stuff like that. So weekly planning took a good amount of time. Plus with the stuff going on with Roe v. Wade, we were told to be inside by 8 to avoid riots and stuff like that. Because they go crazy out here in Tifton GA. It's not called the Friendly City for nothing. Good day overall, lots of good work.
Saturday
Another crazy day. Just went out to Sylvester, had a whole ton of visits and stuff. Had such a cool lesson with James Melton too! He's the guy we waved down as he was driving past us, and he's just been in love with the things we've taught him. We went through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and he was absolutely eating it up. One of the biggest examples and testaments for him that this church is something special, is a friend that he has who has stuck with the church for 40+ years. He was just in AWE that someone would stay with a church for that long. Typically there's so much burnout. So what blew his mind is the gift of the Holy Ghost, the reason why we're able to stick with all of this. Life's tough, keeping covenants and commandments is tough. Especially when we try to do it alone. But thanks to the gift of the Holy Ghost, a gift unique to our church, we don't do it alone. He purifies, magnifies, verifies our efforts and allows us to keep going! Which James absolutely loved. He's praying about baptism, so please pray for him!! After that we had an absolute FIRE lesson with the Height kids. The grandma is a member, and she's trying to get all her grandkids in church. The Sisters were teaching the kids, and we were teaching a few of the older teenagers, but Sis Height wanted to do a mega lesson with everyone together. So we got together, taught the Restoration, and it was the sweetest spirit. Usually that house is absolutely insane. But we walked in, invited everyone to come to the center of the home, we had everyone kneel down, and we just said a prayer with everyone. Then invited everyone to stay for a lesson. Everyone did, and they were the best behaved kids I had ever seen. The spirit was super strong, and they were in LOVE with what we taught. God has a special love for kids. So that was a sweet lesson.
Sunday
Such a solid day. We woke up, one of the first things Elder Blackner said was that this was a good vibes Sunday. And it was. We show up to church, and two members had brought friends with them who were totally ready for the gospel. They absolutely loved church. Then another member gave us a referral out of nowhere. Then we had some super solid lessons. Then we had a fire member dinner. Then we got to drop off some 100% Grapefruit Juice (miracle juice) to Greta. (I'm convinced that this is what Jesus turned water into, water into 100% Grapefruit Juice). Then some lessactives tried to bash us on how obviously false the church, God, Jesus Christ is, but all that did was bolster my testimony and resolve on how obviously true and real it all is. The world will throw the darts, the attacks, the enticing words, but the one thing satan can't do is replicate the feelings that the Holy Ghost can stir up in our hearts. And there is just such a strong spirit that comes when I get to testify about these things that I have come to know are true. Every time I mention, even think the name Jesus Christ, something feels different. So how can I deny that. I can't. It's all true.
So solid week overall. We found some solid people we're working with now who are doing so good. If you're looking for a few names to pray for, say a quick prayer for Tommy to overcome his cancer, for James to have the spirit prick his heart, and for Trevian and Greta to withstand satans attacks. Thank y'all!
That's about it though. Good week, good work, God is so good. Have a great week, and remember that Jesus loves y'all and so do I!!
Scripture of the Week: D&C 76:22-24
22 And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!23 For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father—24 That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters unto God
