*** Hollyy cow I'm so sorry, forgot to press send on my email last week. Enjoy a double dose!! ***
Gooooood morningg y'all!! What's been going on? Holy cow. Get this. After this weekly, only three. More. Weeklies. Absolutely insane. Three more cheesy intros, three more speed reads, three more skipping all the yap and going straight to the pics. Y'all are gonna miss it. I know. Well let's dive in!!
This week was so solid. Super long to be honest, one of the longest weeks of the last little while. But it was busy, absolutely full of miracles, and some major highs and lows. Without further adieu...
Monday
Solid P-day. Just had the day to ourselves, didn't do a whole lot. In Tifton if we're not doing a district pday, there's not a whole ton to do besides fishing and bowling. So we just chilled at the church mostly. Then that evening we had some solid lessons with the Garey fam, a recent convert family. They're absolutely insane. I've never met more rambunctious kids in my life, it's such a good time to keep them all engaged and nonviolent. Good times. Then a solid lesson with Trevian per usual.
Tuesday
Crazy busy. All the people we teach live out in Sylvester, Ty Ty, Poulan, Sumner, a bunch of small towns on the west side of our area. We go out there a few days of the week, and when we do we're PACKED. Back to back lessons throughout the entire day which was solid. Met with Greta, put her on baptismal date for July 24th, and met with a few other people who are doing solid. So super good day overall. We've gotten out of the finding rut luckily, and lately we've been on that teaching grind which is so nice. Finding's great and all, but nothing like having the opportunity to bear your testimony over and over again about how the gospel's changed your life. Plus with this heat we're getting hit with, pretty nice to be inside AC houses. So good stuff overall. Then game night that night with the Vicars clan. Probably my favorite family in this area. They have like 4 boys between the ages 2 and 5, and they're the funniest kids. Gotta love em.
Wednesday
Zone Conference!!! It happened super early in the transfer, and honestly it's been kind of weird thinking that I have no more Zone Conferences to go to. Sad. But it was SO fire. We had some solid trainings by President and Sister Wood, they went all out because this is their last Zone Conference. And this was honestly one of my favorites. Such a powerful spirit, such good trainings, and holy cow President and Sister Wood gave some powerful departing testimonies. I also gave mine which was a little insane. Nothing too fancy, just all about Jesus Christ. So often people hop up there and their testimony is all about them, their mission, how much they'll miss it, but really this last two years hasn't been about me at all. It's been about Christ. Because of my imperfections, my sins, my mistakes, I put holes in His hands and feet. I was partially responsible for that. But He did that willingly. Because He knew, that in order for me to escape my own demons, my own sins, my own trials, I'd need Him. And so what has He asked of me in return? To be His hands, His feet, these last 24 months. To represent Him and declare what He has done, is doing, and will do for those who repent and have faith. So it's all about Him. But overall such a good Zone Conference. Then took some departing pics with President and Sister Wood. Then I saw my old bishop from the Dunn Ave ward, my first area, Bishop Packard. He had moved up to Waycross and it was wild seeing him again. Literally two years ago. Full circle. So that was fun. But Zone Conference was good. Super bittersweet, sad to say bye to a lot of missionaries, it's been good.
Thursday
Solid day again. Honestly a lot like Tuesday. Lots of contacts and lessons. We gave Trevian a church tour which was pretty fire, and he was LOVING it. He's on date right now for July 16th, but he wants to move it up so bad. He just has to overcome a few things, then once he does he's solid. So he's killing it. Then we had sports night with the youth, super fun overall. Good day.
Friday
A little bit of a slower day. Basically everything fell through. A lot of scrambling and grinding to make things work out, but not a whole lot of fruits today. And I know sometimes we make missionary work look so fun, so exciting, so energizing sometimes, but to be honest a lot of the time that's not exactly how it goes. A lot of the time it's a grind. It takes a lot of patience, steady effort, and diligence. There are days where absolutely nothing will work out. But what I've seen, is that there is ALWAYS a tender mercy in each day. The Lord puts His hand in the work. And after a hard days grind, if you stay diligent, you'll get to the end of the day and be completely satisfied with your efforts. Little soapbox. But overall solid grind.
Saturday
A lot of the same as Friday. Just a whole lot of grinding. We did have a few lessons that were absolutely FIRE. We met with Kimberly, our girl on bap date for July 10, and she had some major concerns and questions for us. She had gotten into a bit of anti, so she had some major holdups. But luckily she was willing to talk to us about it. Now I'm telling you, God directs this work. The holdups she had, were exactly what Elder Blackner had struggled a lot with at the beginning of his mission and gained a firm testimony and knowledge of, so we were able to throw down and answer her questions and concerns. So that was solid. She's doing good now, just trying to pay attention more to the spirit that she feels, rather than the words that she reads. And we can all take note in that. It blows my mind, that someone will read some non-factual opinion online about something, and take it as pure doctrine. But there's not a whole lot pure about things people put on the internet, about our church, or anything else. No matter what you look up, you'll get varying opinions on both sides. So it's not a useful place to look. But where is a useful place to go? What about the source of all truth, God himself?? All you need to do, is go to Him with a willingness to act. Pray, and see what feelings you get. Simple. As. That. So if y'all got questions, doubts, concerns, get out of the filth. Don't go into the pigsty to get pure info. Go to God. But the rest of our day was super solid. Had a good lesson with Greta, and brought the Spikes with us to help us out. She's hauling to prepare for her baptism. Just got some holdups so pray for her!! Then the Spikes took us out to a FIRE BBQ place in Sylvester. Solid day.
Sunday
Same old same old. Had a good church service, then a whole lot of contacting out in Omega and in Tifton. Solid grind day. Then a good member dinner with thr Pollocks, such a sweet family with the cutest kids.
And that's the week! Overall solid week. Super long, filled with all sorts of highs, lows, inbetweens, and absolute miracles. ALSOO, gotta give a shoutout to my dad and wish him a happy fathers day!! And same with all the father figures in my life. I know I wouldn't be here on a mission if it weren't for the youth leaders, scout masters, and especially my dad. They've made such a big impacton me on what a man should be like. So love y'all!
So things are going good. My companions good, we're finishing strong, and good things are happening. I'm just loving missionary work. Honestly it hasn't hit me yet that I'm going home soon, and probably won't until I've been home for a few days. So I'm grateful for that. No major trunkster here. But love y'all, have a great week!! Read your scriptures, go to the temple, give your dad a hug, give your dog a bellyrub, enjoy the things that y'all have right now. We're blessed y'all! Anyways, remember that Jesus loves y'all and so do I!!
