What is going on y'all?? Hopefully y'all had the most blessed week! Get ready for an absolute sapfest for this weeks email. This week was absolutely insane, full of the highest highs and some pretty darn lows. Absolutely wild, and it might be a little long, so to save y'alls sanity I'm gonna skip the cringey intro and dive on in. Sound good? Good.
So let's start at the beginning. Last week President Wood let us know that we would have the opportunity to go to the temple this week. It was planned for wednesday, so we needed to drive down to Jacksonville Tuesday evening. The Albany elders were coming to the temple as well, so they came down monday night, blitzed Tifton with us, then we all drove down together Tuesday evening. We ended up getting in at around 8:30, and of course we had to hit up Fuji Sushi, the most FIRE sushi place in Jacksonville. Then we stayed the night at some elders apartments, and drove to Orlando the next morning to go to the temple.
So now that we've got to this point, I want y'all to close your eyes and imagine something for me. Figure out how to do that, and still read at the same time. So imagine you're driving to the temple, you take a turn down a road, and boom there it is. Rising up from a grove of palm trees, there it is. Absolutely stunning, made out of pure, white granite, complemented by gold furnishings outlining jt. There are a few big water fountains, and stunning flower beds. Perfection in a building. Took my breath away. But that wasn't the best part. The instant we drove onto the temple grounds, it just felt different. Holier, lighter, happier, all that sappy stuff. Honestly can't really explain it. But we all got there, probably like 40 missionaries in total, and we got to spend a few hours in the temple. Such a sweet, sacred experience.
Now I'd go more into detail, but some things are just a little too sacred to go flounting around. So it'll suffice it to say that as I went through the temple that day, a part of me was filled that I didn't know needed filling. Kind of cliché to say but that's the best way I felt to describe it. The peace and joy I felt, the love I felt for me personally, honestly just indescribable so I'm not even going to try. The temple is the house of the Lord y'all. As far as I know, at the front of each temple that our church builds is a phrase engraved saying, "Holiness to the Lord, the House of the Lord". And as we enter His house, we can literally be in His presence. I can testify of that to y'all. It had been almost 21 months since I had gone to the temple last, and I had been missing something. But as I went to the temple, I found that missing piece. And I made myself a goal that I will never let that amount of time pass again without me going to the house of the Lord. And hopefully when I get back I'll get to go much more frequently than that. And hopefully y'all can make a similar goal. If it's been a while since you've gone to the temple, go! If you can't go right now, make a goal to go, and work towards it! Go sit on the temple grounds, gain strength from being near to God, go renew yourself spiritually! I can promise that whatever life brings, the temples are here to help us.
Anyways, that was our trip to the temple. After we went through, we took some pics on the ground, got some lunch, then went home. And the moment we drove off the temple grounds, there was a tangible difference in me. There's something sacred about temple grounds. So we drove home, about 5 hours of driving until we were back in Tifton, and got back to work.
The rest of the week was a blur to be honest. Full of a whole lot of contacts, lessons, street finding, the whole shabang. To celebrate Earth Day, Elder Branham and I took our trusty bikes out and did our contacting in Sylvester that way. Missionary work is so fun y'all. And I mean that. People talk about missions being so hard, so taxing, so tiring, and they are. But they're also so exhilirating! It's in the hard times that you truly gain a testimony that God loves you, and is aware of you, and then you get to go bool around with a buddy, both yoked to the purpose of bringing people to Christ, and you just get to fill others lives with so much joy!! What job description is greater than the job description of a missionary. There isn't one.
So this week was good. A little hard and frustrating at times as we had to stop working with a LOT of the friends we were working with. Things just weren't panning out this week with a lot of people, but that's ok. I learned about the Savior and his joy in the hard work I put in, and that's enough for me.
We also got transfer news this week. And I will be staying another one with Elder brandsome over here in Tifton. We're excited. We got some good things going for us so we're hyped. Crazy that I only have 1 more transfer call left on my mission! Thank goodness, transfer call days are the pits haha.
So that was our week. A whole lot of really high highs, a few lows, and a whole bunch of amazing, spiritual, joyful, fun experiences. Missions rock y'all. And y'all rock. Keep killing it, go to the temple, serve your fellow man, be a missionary, and remember that Jesus loves y'all and so do I!
Elder Richardson
Quote of the Week:
*Not sure who it's by*
Every foundation stone that is laid for a Temple, and every Temple completed according to the order the Lord has revealed for his holy Priesthood, lessens the power of Satan on the earth, and increases the power of God and Godliness, moves the heavens in mighty power in our behalf, invokes and calls down upon us the blessings of the Eternal Gods, and those who reside in their presence.
