Tifton Transfer 14 Week 1

Whaaaaaatttt is up!! How are y'all! This email is coming to y'all from the PROMISED LAND of Tifton. And when I say promised land, I mean it. Shangri-la, Celestial Kingdom, Eden, nirvana, whatever you want to call it. Holy cow. Shall we dive on in to telling y'all about this last week? Lets do it.
So let's rewind back to good ole Gainesville. When I talked to y'all last, we had just gotten transfer calls. Our last few days were chock full of lessons and visits saying bye to people. Now Tifton might now be the promised land, but Gainesville is a VERY close second place. I'm so grateful that I got to spend 6 months down there learning, growing, coming closer to my Savior, and coming closer to a whole lot of christlike people down there. So lots of bittersweet goodbyes.
After all the sappy so longs, we met up in Lake City for transfers and Elder Hansen picked me up. And transfers were so sick this time around. Usually we have 3 transfer spots, in Tallahassee, Lake City, and Jacksonville, with a transfer caravan that drives back and forth delivering missionaries. But due to some problems that the old method brought about, President decided that we'd all meet in Lake City. So like half the mission showed up in Lake City, and it was fun seeing a whole bunch of buddies.
So Elder Hansen picked me up, and we drove 2 hours up to this blessed place. And holy cow is it different from where I've served the last 18 months. Tifton's a bit on the smaller side, around 20,000 people living there, and the first review on Google Maps says something, "If you like a place that's small, boring, and has nothing to do, this place is for you". I love it 😂 There are a whole lot less pine trees and a whole lot more farmland which is sweet. Also as you're driving up to Tifton, there are a whole bunch of billboards threatening people to follow Jesus or else zombies will get them. But the southern hospitality is real. There was a little bit of a southern feel in Florida, but up here it's loud and clear. So I love that.
The work up here is so good too. We get an average of like 3 referrals a day through ads that the church runs, and the people are genuinely interested! So our days are packed, as they should be, and we do a lot of teaching which is so nice. Tifton's known in the mission for having a ton of work, and the people being super prepared to receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. And boy oh boy is it true. Literally the very first contact I had here, we found someone who requested to learn more about prayer, but literally begged a Book of Mormon out of us. She's super prepared and willing to let God prevail in her life. And so are a ton of other people we meet with. So I'm excited y'all.
Buttt georgia's also absolutely wild 😂 our first lesson here, we were meeting with this lady who they recently found. She's probably in her 30's, she's a super nice, intelligent, jesus-loving individual, ans she's awesome. She also has like no teeth haha. Just setting the picture up. But we are sitting there talking to her about the Atonement, when all of a sudden she looks outside, runs outside and starts yelling. We look outside, and there are like 25 little hood kids fighting. She goes out there and literally starts throwing hands with all of them 😂 she obviously won, broke up the fight, and came back inside complaining that Nini got beat up by Peanut Butter and his possee. Then we continued with our lesson like nothing happened. Whack. Little stuff happening like that all the time haha, but it just keeps things interesting so it's all good.
But yeah that's about it. Georgia's awesome, the ward out here is so kind to us and willing to help out with anything we need. We literally have like 7 boxes of cocoa crisps because this old lady keeps giving us boxes for free. So everyone is so sweet. The weather's a little chillier, but Georgia is absolutely beautiful. So things are going good. Our zone is filled with a bunch of stud missionaries, so I'm excited for the miracles that this transfer will bring. But have a great week y'all, remember that Jesus loves you, and so do I!!

Scripture of the Week: Jacob 6:5
5 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I beseech of you in words of soberness that ye would repent, and come with full purpose of heart, and cleave unto God as he cleaveth unto you. And while his arm of mercy is extended towards you in the light of the day, harden not your hearts
