Gainesville Transfer 13 Week 5
Hey y'all! What is up? Hopefully this email finds y'all happy and healthy. We are over here. And who wouldn't be when they're in the service of the Lord. Not that hard things don't happen, not that I don't get stressed, or down, but the Lord always makes sure it all works out. He just has a way of showing His hand and letting us know that He's helping us out.
Well let's dive into this week! Not a whole ton of crazy stuff went down this week. We did get to have some lessons with some of our people, and they went pretty good. Karen's still chugging along, but the big challenge with her is getting her to focus on receiving an answer from God, not from google or wikipedia. Now it's a whole lot easier just to put your question into a little search box, and fill your head with all that information, but the thing is, who determines the difference between fact and fiction? The only real source of truth out there is God. So that's why we emphasize prayer so much. If God won't lead us astray, then there's no risk in asking him. If we've put in the work, truly made an effort to seek an honest understanding, and then pray to ask God, then He'll answer us! So try it out this week. Read the Book of Mormon, and then pray to know if it's true. Even if you've already prayed and received an answer. Because constant reaffirmations of our testimony is SO VITAL if we want to keep progressing. So pray to God. Pay attention to what you feel in your heart. And God will talk to you. And it'll change your life.
Anyways, our people are doing good. They're all mostly in the same boat. Just praying to know if this is all true and all worth it. Which it is, and it is. So keep Karen, Joseph, the Ricks, Roger and Justin in your prayers. We also had a good amount of member work this week, just stopping by some less active members. And we had a cool little miracle yesterday haha. We stopped by this one guy named Ron, and a lady opened the door. She was super happy to see us and let us inside. We talked for a minute, then she started going off about how she respects us Jehovah's Witnesses because of our devotion. We had to clarify who we were haha, which threw her for a loop and got her interested in who we are and what we do. Long story short, turns out she didn't know who Ron was, but her and her two daughters are interested in taking lessons. The Lord provides. And then to add another miracle, turns out she was a lady who we had already been in contact with a few months ago who we were super excited about, but we didn't have her address and she wasn't responding over text. So God is good.
Other than that, this week wasn't too wild. We had Zone Conference which was awesome as always, talked a lot about the Law of Obedience, and then talked about the power of the Book of Mormon. We're working on flooding the earth with the Book of Mormon so all good stuff. Then right after ZC, I went on an exchange with Elder Mecum, who's an absolute legend. He's playing basketball at Utah when he gets back so we bonded on that (trying to get him to play at BYU instead). But we took the took the party back to Jacksonville to work in his area, and had a good time. Got bashed at Chipotle, made a few contacts, dropped off some copies of the Book of Mormon, it was fun. Then traded back off in Gainesville the next morning. Fun stuff.
But that's about it. Life's good, we're good, the work's good. Like our entire ward and area is coming down with covid so there are a lot of cancelled appointments, but we're trucking through it. It's also getting cold now, right now it's about 55 degrees and absolutely freezing.
So anyways, hopefully y'all have a great week! Keep reading your Book of Mormon, it has all the answers you need to find lasting peace and joy. Remember that Jesus loves you, and so do I!
Elder Richardson
Scripture of the Week-- Moroni 10:3-5
3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
