Gainesville Transfer 11 Week 4
Hoooolllyy coww what is up y'all?? How has your week been? I feel like it was just yesterday that I was writing y'all an email. Time really does fly when you're having fun. And boy oh boy did we have fun this week. Shall we dive right into it? We shall.
Well by way of teaching, things are going good. We had our normal lessons with Will, but honestly it's a little strange realizing that he's no longer our little investigator, but he's all grown up. 🥲. Those are going good. We're getting him super hyped about family history right now. And when I say he's hyped about family history, I mean he's HYPED about family history. I have never met a teenager more excited about family history than our boy Will. He's planning on going to the temple next month which will be really good, but sadly we can't go with him. But he'll have the opportunity to go get baptized for his dad, and a few other family members who he was really close with before their passing. So that'll be super special for him.
We also had a lesson with Michelle, and I had an ephiphany, if you will, while we were teaching her. She had mentioned that she was kind of in this for the short-term, and she wasn't too serious about looking for anything long-term. So we decided to teach her the Plan of Salvation, to give her a little purpose in life and help her realize why we need Christ. We taught her the Plan of Salvation, and just testified so often, and so powerfully about Jesus Christ and why we need Him. And I've had powerful lessons in the past, but there was a special spirit in this lesson. And she was really touched. This whole lesson helped me remember the power of Jesus Christ, and our purpose as missionaries. Often it's easy to focus on converting people the Book of Mormon, the Restoration, Joseph Smith, church, whatever it may be. And those are GOOD things! But what are we truly out here doing? Inviting all to come unto CHRIST! Because the Book of Mormon is great, the Restoration is great, but without Jesus Christ, is there any reason or purpose behind these things? No. Jesus Christ brings purpose. He brings hope. He brings a reason to try in life, for because of Christ life actually means something. And that's why as missionaries, and as people in general, Christ needs to be our focus. We need to be wholely and completely dedicated and converted to Him. Because at the end of the day, nothing else will help us withstand the winds and storms that Satan WILL throw at us.
Alright sweet. That's about it by way of teaching. We did the chalkboard activity again this week and found a few more potential solid people, so that was pretty cool. We'll see how it goes with them. But honestly that's about it by way of our missionary efforts. Lots of grinding, hard work, learning, growing, all that fun stuff.
On other notes, Will has convinced Elder Callaway and I to apply to UF. Mostly just for clout to say I got accepted to UF, but who knows. UF is such a nice school and it would be fun to go here. So we'll keep you updated. But the application is due Nov 1st and we have 2 pdays to finish it and I don't really want to use precious pday time filling it out. So we'll see. Also for pday we carved pumpkins, then played some bball in the pouring rain. So that was fun.
But honestly that's about it. Life is good, the work is good, all is well in Zion. Just remember that Jesus loves each and every one of y'all, and so do I. Have a great week!
Elder Richardson
Scripture of the Week: Helaman 5:12
12 And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
