Tallahassee Transfer 4 Week 3
Hola mi familia y amigos!
How has everyones week been? Everything is going good here, we're staying pretty busy so the days are flying by. This week had lots of service, lots of driving and lots of contacting peopoe. Overall a pretty eventful and fun week.
By way of teaching, our area here is crazy spread out. Our area is probably around 50 miles wide and we have people to contact all throughout it. So what we've been doing is just designating days as traveling days, and we'll drive like 120 miles just visiting all of the little small towns that are spread around in our area. It's actually pretty fun, the drive is beautiful and the people here are awesome so it stays pretty exciting for sure haha.
We also were able to do a lot of service this week. There's a family in our ward, the wahlquists, who are awesome. They feed us a massive feast every Sunday, and love the missionaries. So this week, almost every night this week we would go over to their house and help them move across town. We also got to go do a food drive at a place called Tabernacle of Praise which was really fun, and then we got a ton of free food from that which was cool. Lots of service opportunities here which is cool.
We have a few main people who are progressing. We have a guy named Terry, who is an absolute stud. He's this quiet, old guy who is losing all of his teeth, but he is super profound in the spiritual department. We'll ask him a question and he'll sit there for a minute thinking about it and then he comes up with a super cool response. So he's pretty awesome. He's progressing really well but we're running into some hiccups so if y'all could keep him in your prayers that would be very appreciated. Our other investigator is a man named Greg, who is also a stud. He is also progressing really well, but something that he gets caught up on is the little secondary questions, and doesn't really focus on answering the primary questions. What I mean by that is primary questions are the big ones that we go to the Lord with to build our testimony, such as is the Book of Mormon true, was Joseph Smith a prophet, is this church the true church... And the secondary questions are things like questions about certain doctrine, questions about church history, things that you don't really need answered to gain a testimony. So I've been studying a lot about the difference between those two types of questions, and why we only really need to answer the primary questions. There's a really good BYU speech called Stand Forever by Lawrence E. Corbridge. Something he says really stood out to me about different questions that we might have. He said something to the effect of, "You can't prove a positive, by disproving every negative. You can't prove the church is true, the book of mormon is true, joseph Smith was a prophet, by disproving every negative thing that has ever been said about them". And I know that is true. There is so much confusion, contradiction, lies in the world. So the only person that we should go to with our questions, is our Heavenly Father. And the questions He wants to answer, is those primary questions. So I have gone to Him, over and over again, especially on the mission, to ask about these primary questions. And again and again, I get the same answer. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know it was not written, but translated by Joseph Smith through the gift and power of God. I know that through Joseph Smith, God restored His church, the same church that Christ established on the earth. I know this as a fact to me. And if any of yall are struggling with doubts, questions, just go to your Heavenly Father. He is the way that we get answers! Just pray with a sincere heart, humbly asking if these things are true, and I can promise that it will change your life.
Moroni 10:4-5
4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.
5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.
All we have to do is ask! And God is so wiling to tell us the truth of all things. What a blessing!
That's about all I have this week, I'm so grateful to be a missionary. And being in Florida to share this good message is amazing. Keep chugging along everyone, and feel free to send me an email. Love y'all, have a good week!
