Hey Everyone! How are y'all doing? I hope everything is going good wherever you are and y'all are enjoying yourselves. I definitely am. This last week was pretty crazy, we had some crazy experiences, some super spiritual experiences, and everything in between.
But to start out the beginning of this week was just same old same old. when I was still in Jacksonville my new companion, Elder Colton ended up testing positive for covid. So because of that I couldn't drive up to Tallahassee to meet him on transfer day. So they kept me in Jacksonville with Elder Arp and his new comp, elder Christensen. It was my first time being in a trio, so it was a little strange, but it was pretty fun. They're both pretty awesome guys so I enjoyed it. We just did the usual Dunn ave missionary work, contacted some people, said bye to some people, did a little bit of service. It was sad saying bye to our people Jose and Tabitha, but they're in good hands. Other than that that was mostly our week. On my last day I ended up going on a tradeoff with the other elders in our ward, elder Nall and Arnold, and we ended up getting to play some street ball with a bunch of guys in the hood which was pretty fun. We were making some contacts in a neighborhood and walked past a bunch of guys playing on a court, and decided to go play with them. We ended up wrecking them so that was pretty cool. It was us 3 missionaries in our church clothes and a short little 8 year old named King who we were told is a legend pick-pocketer vs four adults so we were pretty proud haha. We got out with the win and with our wallets so that was a blessing haha. They were really cool dudes and it was fun to ball with them.
Then on Saturday I got transferred up to Tally and met my companion, Elder Colton. He's a super cool dude, super nice and crazy smart. He also works super hard which is a big blessing, we're excited for this transfer. He's fresh out of his training too so that will be pretty fun, a couple of new guys running around Tally. On our first day here we had some pretty interesting experiences haha. We were making some contacts out in the sticks, by a tiny town named Midway. We were driving down this long driveway to go to a home of a lady who met with the missionaries before, when we realized it was the wrong house. We turned around and started driving back, then decided we would get out and walk to the next house. As we were walking away from the car some huge black lady ran out of her house in a nightgown, holding a massive shotgun, and screamed at us to go away or she would shoot at us. She kept waiving her gun at us so we got in the car and drove away. After getting away from that lady, we pulled up to another house, but as we were driving down the long path to get to their house another car drove out towards us. We reversed back to the main road and the guy got out of his car to talk to us. We told him that we were the missionaries and we were just coming to check in on his wife. He started yelling at us and cussed us out, then told us to leave. So we did. As we were leaving though, we realized that this guy was following us. he followed us for a good 15 minutes, and would change lanes when we changed lanes, slow down when we slowed down, it was a little scary haha. We had to do some crazy driving and flip a couple u-turns in order to ditch the guy. Luckily we got away.
So that is about all that has happened in Tally so far, I guess it's been pretty exciting. but things are going good and I'm really enjoying it over here. The work is moving along really good so we're really excited.
That's about all that happened this week, sorry for the long email but I thought that I might as well share those exciting stories. Love y'all and feel free to send me an email, it's always nice to hear from y'all. Other than that remember that Jesus loves you, and so do I.
Elder Richardson
Scripture: 2 Nephi 8:12- "I am he; yea, I am he that comforteth you. Behold who art thou, that thou shouldst be afraid of man, who shall die, and of the son of man who shall be made like unto grass?"
I love this scripture. It's just such a good reminder of who we really have on our side. We literally have the creator of the universe pulling for us. So whatever trial we have, whoever or whatever is holding us back or standing in our way, He could snap his fingers and turn it into grass. And that is the kind of power that is on our side. So why should we fear? All we have to do is just have faith in Him.
