Hola Familia y Amigos!
How is everyone doing? Things are going good here, lots of changes from last week though! We had transfers and our district changed a lot, all good things though.
First to start out this week was really good with teaching. We go through phases where we have to show our faith and drop a lot of our investigators, but somehow every time that happens God blesses us with people who are more willing to let God prevail in their life. So this week we were able to pick up some pretty amazing people. One of these people is Marie. She was a referral who asked for a book of mormon. We went to drop a book off, and she was so excited about it. She told us that she had read the Book of Mormon when she was younger and it had really changed her life, but she had misplaced it so she was super happy to get another one. I was pretty excited to hear that as well, because honestly the Book of Mormon has changed my life as well. It doesn't matter the trial, the Book of Mormon never fails to bring me peace and guidance. There's a special spirit about it and if you guys haven't read it yet, I challenge you to read for yourself!
We also had transfers this week. Elder McDaniel and I ended up getting split up so that was kind of sad. He's going to Tallahassee, and I'm staying here in Dunn Ave. I got a new companion named Elder Arp, and he's basically a big funny Samoan dude. He's been a good companion so far so I'm excited for the next transfer. We got lots of good work going on in Dunn Ave so its all pretty exciting. Our district got switched around a lot too, we lost some cool missionaries but the new Elders coming in are pretty cool too so thats exciting.
We also had the opportunity to have a mission-wide call with Mark Pope and his wife. Mark Pope is the coach for the BYU Basketball team, and he's an awesome guy. We got to have this call with him because there are some BYU basketball players in this mission, and his daughter is in this mission as well. But he gave some really good thoughts. Something I really liked that he said was the power of the word yet. So often we're so limiting with our thinking. We think we aren't good enough, fast enough, spiritual enough, happy enough. But we don't need to limit ourselves that way. Maybe we aren't good enough YET, but we can become good enough. Maybe we aren't happy enough YET, but we can become happy enough. So remember the word YET.
Spiritual thought: Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
That's just such a cool thing to think of, that the God of the universe is promising us that He will be with us always. So why should we fear anything! Because as long as we are with God, nothing will overcome us.
Have a good week! And have a good Christmas season! Don't forget to do the Light the World challenges. Love you all!
Elder Richardson
