They Made me a Cake...
You heard that right. They made me... a cake. AND IT WAS DELICIOUS!
This email might be a little short, as it is my turn to make the baptismal programs this week, but we will see how long that takes.
So this week was a blast. We had 3 baptisms this last Saturday, and 2 more this next Saturday. Now it is time to really push in our finding efforts.
I was told I needed to take more pictures. So here is one of a cow as well.
I almost had to talk in church yesterday, but the bishopric just forgot that it was the week of the primary program, so I got saved there. I still had to give my testimony in Tagalog, and that was rough, but survivable.
As for the primary program, it went just like any other primary program. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is when the kids from like age 4 or 5 to 11 go up on the stand and give like short little talks and sing songs for the duration of
the hour. One little boy got up, started his little spiel on prayer, stopped, pouted, and said "Nahiya ako," translating to, "I'm shy."
Filipinos also don't know how to read music as I have come to hear. All the piano players are self taught and yes they can read notes but they don't understand the dots next to notes, giving them more value. In "I Stand All Amazed," there is a section
where the hymn has a dotted 8th/16th note rhythm in "Oh it is wonderful, that he should care for me, enough to die for me." But here in the Philippines, it is straight 8th notes. It was actually really funny the first time I heard it.
I met my first balut salesman, and he just kinda rides around at night shouting "BALUT." Talk about marketing
This is where I end this weeks email with my rice counter.
