Hey everyone!!
It's been another one of the busiest weeks of my life! Odessa is an amazing place for sure.
For starters, I got back from Salt Lake on Monday night late and got a call Thursday from President Child that I'm going back to Mexico on the 16th of this month. 8 days and I will be back! I'm a little nervous but really excited to go and see what else the Lord needs me to learn while out here on the mission!
This coming week we have the Midland and Odessa joint Zone Conference where the STL's and Elder Hansen and I get to do a joint instruction. We are super excited and can't wait to share some of our thoughts!!
We did tons of service and at one of the projects, we got to sort through some clothes and we all dressed up. It was like goodwill type stuff so it was a blast! I copped some AF1's (Air Force 1'st) for free so it was pretty sweet.
We found BJ and Brendan this week and they are amazing people! We sure loved meeting them and they had great questions about the Restoration. I sure love the people and the culture here!
We showed up to Mayras this week for the lesson and 8 cops were out front with an ambulance and a fire truck. It was sketch! There was a huge fire on the side of their house and we got there the second they put it out. Hector told us the whole story for the next hour and a half pretty explicitly in English and then Spanish. Good news is that they all took it as a sign from God that we got there when we did! We also rescued their puppy from clear under their house this week. Good stuff!
I've been pondering a lot about my experience on the plane last week coming home from the Salt Lake consulate. As I looked out of the window and saw tons and tons of cars, houses, lights, and people, I couldn't help but feel worthless and powerless. The world is so big and how could I matter to God? Right when I had that thought, the spirit poured over me so powerfully. I knew that no matter how big this world is, or how many other worlds there are, that God is aware of each of us and everything that we are going through. The paradox of man from President Uctdorf came to mind as well: "Compared to God, man is nothing; yet we are everything to God. While against the backdrop of infinite creation we may appear to be nothing, we have a spark of eternal fire burning within our breast. We have the incomprehensible promise of exaltation—worlds without end—within our grasp. And it is God’s great desire to help us reach it." I LOVE that!! We are nothing, but we are EVERYTHING to God and he will help us return and receive all that He has instore for us.
I love you all and want each of you to know that God does love and care about you. He knows YOU! You are of so much worth and have amazing potential! I am so grateful for all of the amazing examples and people in my life that have helped me see that the true happiness found in this life comes from the gospel.
Love you each!!
