Incredible start to Feb.

Wow time is going so fast! I feel like Elder Martinez and I got here just  a couple days ago. We have been working on being more obedient and we have seen tons of miracles.

We had interviews with the President this week and they went great. We learned that Elder Martinez is going to train after he finishes his training with me in 8 weeks. He is such a stud and a great example for me and I am super excited to see the success he will have.

As for us here, it was a ton of ups and downs this week. Carlos, our recent convert, is having some economic issues and he has developed depression. We visited him and shared some scriptures that seemed to help him. After our talk, we said we were surprising him and we stole him from his family to head out and eat street tacos on us. We chatted about life and it was great to open up to him as a person more than be a white shirt and tie missionary.

We have battled for almost this whole change with the Meza Fam. They have had some wild stories and things happen to them. We finally got everything together this week and the kids (Carlos, Martin, y America) all said they were reading the book of mormon and prayed if they should be baptized and received their answer!! So we reviewed the lessons to help them not forget it all and help them with the interviews. We showed up to the baptismal interview for them and like always, the dads problems get in the way. He was crazy drunk and gets angry when he is wasted. So, we had the District leader do the interviews and Elder Martinez and Elder Garcia distract the dad while I chatted and helped the family. They all passed the interview! I told the dad to his face if he wants to come to the baptism, he has to come sober. The next day they all came to the baptism and he was normal and sober, miracle!! Trying to reactivate him has been really hard for him to pick up the pieces for 35 years of being away. The family forgot their towels, underwear, and flip flops so Elder Martinez and I ran to their house with Martin and almost died from asphyxiation haha. We are such pigs and have no cardio here.

The services were great and the kids asked to be baptized again because they felt so good. On the way home, Carlos asked us what he needs to do to prepare to serve a mission like us when he's older. That question makes you feel so good inside to see the atonement truly change someone's life. Elder Martinez and I confirmed them members of the church in sacrament meeting and it was super special.

We also put 2 solid baptismal dates with Camilla and Jaziel. There are tons of kids here that need to be baptized because their parents went really inactive and so we first help reactive them and then baptize the kids. We will reach our huge goal of 5 baptisms this month and it will be a super special experience to be a part of the change in their lives.

The Lord truly has specific and important things for every missionary. I learn more and more every week why I am here in Mexico and right now in Refugio. The Lord works in mysterious ways but he know the hearts of us. I am super happy and can't believe that I now have over 6 months.... I guess all I can do is keep working and finding joy in the little things. Sure love you guys and I am grateful for all of the support and love from you all!!!
