Carlos R. and Miracles...

This week was incredible! So we have been working our tails off to please the members and help the members. At this point there are only references to visit less active members and families. So, we planned an activity on the 26th of January where the whole zone of 20 missionaries will come and we will all go visit the less actives with the members who gave us the references. It's perfect because we are fortifying the ward and building the confidence of the ward in us.
We also finished teaching Carlos Ramos and got his baptismal interview done. For the baptism we managed to keep the whole thing a surprise! Carlos has been listening to the missionaries for a long time and his family has been saying that it's still not his time to be baptized…or so they guessed. But, they all came for a baptism and Carlos' daughter and wife were going to give the talks about Baptism and the Holy Spirit. We told everyone that the baptism was for Felix (our baptism scheduled for next week) and they had no idea. We had a member pull Carlos out of the room really quickly while we were "waiting on the person to arrive". Carlos then went to the bathroom and changed into all white and he walked into the room with all of his family waiting for what they thought was the baptism of Felix and everyone started bawling. The spirit was so incredible and everyone was amazed to see it was actually Carlos. They already talked about how they already are planning on going the 15th of Jan next year to be sealed. I am so excited because we will be invited to go be a part of it. Carlos hit his head on the way up out of the water and everyone died laughing. My comp almost fell out of his chair. We sang hymns the best we could after that and he came back and we ate some bread and tea. Such a wonderful experience!
On Sunday I got to give him the priesthood and then they made him a ward missionary so we will continue to work with him and learn tons. He is such an amazing man!!
This week as well we are teaching a difficult family. The dad is a less active that has problems with the word of wisdom and many other things. His kids have been listening to the message and went to the baptism of Carlos and to church the past two weeks. We taught them the plan of Salvation and they all said they want to live with God and Jesus Christ again so they want to be baptized. All three, (Martin, Carlos, and America), are going to be baptized the 25 of Jan with Felix. I am so so excited to see all of our work pay off. The Lord is blessing us and this area so much. I am so thrilled to be apart of it and to learn so much.
My kid (trainee) Martinez has grown so, so much in the lessons and even when he shares simple scriptures. He already talks with power and authority and I can't wait to see what the future holds for him.
We started a tradition….might not be the smartest tradition but it's a bonding one….Every night on the way home there is a taco stand out front of our house. My companion buys the tacos and I buy the coca colas and oreos. We take turns every night with who buys what. The street taco guy is giving us more food now cuz he says we are valued customers... haha. Not gonna lie, we have already gained a lot of weight and we will continue to because 6 tacos for 35 pesos is a deal we cannot walk away from haha. Anyways, love you guys and hope you're all doing great!
Love,
Elder Quackenbush
