Highlights- Dropping trees out of the sky, Thanksgiving, mosque
We ended this week with dropping a couple trees out of the sky. You might be wondering why we did this and all of it started about a week ago when the district was tasked with making a Light the World video. This is the great idea everyone came up with. You will notice that I said trees with an S. We were only supposed to cut down 1, but at the end we cut down 3 because of technical issues. You might ask how we did this, and the simple answer is with the good old ax and saw. It's going to be a sweet video. y'all should keep your eye for that one coming out December 2nd.
This week was also Thanksgiving, and since we aren't able to eat at members I thought it was going to be Elders making Thanksgiving, but our ward is amazing and they brought us an entire Thanksgiving dinner. I am very grateful for our ward because otherwise it would have been the second Thanksgiving I missed (somehow they just don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Africa). But we all ate well and it was. a great day!
I also had the occasion this week to become a muslim… I'm only joking, but we are still talking to Yahya who might just be the coolest man in the plant, and we did a little church swap with him. So he came to our church and yesterday we went to the mosque. It was crazy because most of them there couldn't speak English and the prayer always had to be in Arabic. There's a lot of similarity between the two religions and while we were there they let us do the motions of the prayer. Also in their culture after someone comes to the mosque, they take you out to eat some Muslim food. It was delicious, but I do not remember the name of the dish sadly.
As for the people we are teaching: Uma and her family are all on date for the 26th of December which is awesome, but there were a couple others that dropped us this week, not sure what happened. Sometimes that is the life of a missionary, but we did set a new goal for this mission because for some reason this mission loves goals. We decided we are going to try to get 1,100 people at church in the month of December. It's a little crazy, but I think that's just a lot of the missionaries here nowadays lol.
Something I really enjoyed in my studies this week with it being Thanksgiving was gratitude, and the message of hope that our prophet shared with the world. I went and did a little research and found out the idea for that video came in the middle of the night for him. One night he woke up and felt he needed to say a prayer of gratitude for everyone in the world. That's what ended up leading him to make the video, and that's brings me to the point of how grateful I am to have a living prophet here on the earth to lead and guide us always.
