Sarmiento Chubut Argentina

Elder Cole

Week 1 down...oh boy!

So this first week here in Parque was a little bit long. The water has been cut since Thursday so we have had to take buckets over to the church, which always has water, and fill them up then take them back to the pension and boil the water to shower. IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!! i hope the sarcasm shows! with this week being the whole Semana Santa or Holy Week that the Catholics celebrate almost nobody was home because they were all with their families partying. All week we taught 7 lessons it was pretty rough. It is kind of cool to be here though because this is the birth place of my dad! HA so in the mission at least here your trainer is called your dad and your first area is your birthplace so simply put i am serving in Elder Bunkers first area. He told me so many stories and now they just make so much more sense!

This week we were in a less active familys house and we were going to share a scripture. I had been thinking the whole time on what scripture to share and had a pretty good idea. As i was looking for the scripture i just could not find it. I looked for 5 minutes through all my marking and all my tabs but couldnt find it. I finally turned to Mosiah 24:14 and 15. At first i just opened to it and thought well this is a good one and i am a little frustrated that i cant find the other one so we will just read this. We read it all together and as we finished the mom looked at me with tears in her eyes and asked me if i had been listening to their conversation that morning. She told me that they had just been talking about how they were having a rough time and need some help aside from their neighbors and friends. I felt the spirit so strong in that moment i had no idea what to say.

That was a very humbling moment for me as i realized that i had been thinking about what i wanted to share not what THEY needed me share. AS i looked back on that i realized that i had truly been guided to that scripture and i hadnt even realized it. I hadnt heard a voice or even felt like that was what i should share. I was looking for something else and it just fell in my lap. It sounds really just way to easy but if you think about it that happens a lot! We may be looking for something that we think is the right thing to do and we are searching with the best intentions but God has something he knows with help just a little better and puts it in front of us.

Listen to the spirit mis queridos! Every single one of you has the abilitly to be guided and i suggest using that ability there really just isnt any better feeling!

I know that this church is true and the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in its fullness. I know the Book of Mormon is the true word of God and was translated by his power! I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that thanks to his little prayer we now have a prophet on the earth today to lead and guide us and i know with all my heart that he is Thomas S Monson!

I love you and i hope you have the greatest week ever!
