Elder Haskins and I determined to not let any obstacles get in the way of the work. Since we ran out of kilometers for the month early, we walked on Wednesday and Thursday. Although it was tiring at times, it was worth it because of the great people we met along the way.
On Friday morning, we taught our new investigator, Erna Lynn the full Restoration lesson. She clearly understands the doctrine and it brought up more of her interest in continuing to learn. However, there is one major problem. She decided to go to General Conference on Sunday afternoon, but her husband is very opposed to religion and threatened to pack up and leave her if she went to church. I personally think it is a bigger issue on the husband's part, but I also know that the Lord will provide the way for Erna to come to church without serious family opposition. She is very headstrong so she will probably make it through if she shows faith in Christ.
During the week, Bruno continued to teach us the new member lessons. He is truly a "Spiritual Powerhouse" as he puts so much effort in delivering the message. We have been taking him out more often to lessons so that he can bear powerful testimony. He has been such a big help lately.
General Conference this weekend was just simply amazing. I will share two of my favorite talks.
First, I loved Kevin R. Duncan's talk about forgiveness and how we need to let God deal with the justice of that person who trespassed against you. That really helps me in the work as I forget about the rejections and the rude people we meet.
I also loved President Uchtdorf's talk about rebuilding ourselves through Christ. If man can turn a pile of rubble into a beautiful building, why can't God rebuild us from our own sins? We simply must have faith and the desire to change ourselves, so that the miracles can happen.
Now for Russell, the fellowshipping of the members has increased a ton. In between the Sunday sessions of Conference, the Hillsmann family in 1st Ward invited all of us to lunch, including Bruno and Russell. It was a great time to help them make new friends in the church.
Thanks for all that you do. I love this Gospel. I want all those we meet to have that chance to learn and live it. Love you much and have a wonderful week!
