I Am Called of God

A mission is a funny thing. On any given day, you go through an

enormous amount of emotions that it can confuse you. This last week

was a great week! It was filled with highs and lows but you know, you

only really ever remember the highs. Sure you can draw on those

negative experiences but you mostly remember the good times and you

have a general feeling of accomplishment at the end of each day. Yes,

there will be times when the day seems bad, but I will buy you lunch

if you can find a day on a mission where you don't smile.

This week was hot! Luckily we have seemed to end up getting water form

a lot of different people as we go and almost everyday right around

when we are starting to get really exhausted a member usually lets us

in for about a half hour and we share a message so it works. I don't

think I have ever loved water more!

This week we had a ton of lessons! It was the first time in my mission

that we had to re-evaluate our goal. We normally don't get as many

lessons as we did but now it seems a lot more possible. Part of that

is the thought that I will explain next.

I was praying the other day and I had a thought that had hit me before

but not with so much power as it did the other night. The thought came

into my mind that I am a literal representative of Christ. I am

physically in his place. The words of "My missionary commission flowed

with more meaning to me.

"I am called of God. My authority is above that of the kings of the

earth. By revelation I have been selected as a personal representative

of Lord Jesus Christ. He is my Master and He has chosen me to

represent Him. To stand in His place, to say and do what He Himself

would say and do if He personally were ministering to the very people

to whom He has sent me. My voice is his voice, and my acts are his

acts; my words are His words and my doctrine is His doctrine. My

commission is to do what He wants done. To say what He wants said. To

be a living modern witness in word and feed of the divinity of His

great and marvelous latter-day work. How great is my calling!"

It was a great testimony to me that I am here to do what Christ would

do. It's that simple and it is my commission and it is great!

Parents are also called of God. Think about it, if God could be, he

would be right next to us helping us in our life here on earth. Our

fathers are to "preside over the home in righteousness" not to be a

tyrant or a dictator over their family but to love, nurture and

provide for the physical and spiritual needs of his children. I. Love

my. Father. He has helped me in numerous times in every aspect of my

life.

Love, your missionary brother and son, Elder Jefferies

Pics to come later I hope...
