Okay, not really, but I just didn't know what to put as my subject line...
Yet again we had a great week! We found a few people however, we also
haven't been able to get in contact with a few people that we have
been teaching. Our one investigator with a baptismal date needed to
drop it. His family is battling a few bouts of sickness and some other
legitimate medical issues which puts a little bit of a damper on it
but we set the goal that we felt was inspired to baptize someone this
month. We have a couple other people that could make it, we just need
to meet with them. That seems to be the most difficult thing in this
area is getting appointments that actually happen.
On Tuesday I had a pretty awesome time riding in the rain. Btw, disc
brakes do not work very well in the rain. Don't worry, I am fine haha.
I also was able to experience quite a few really cool things this
week. We had a lesson this past week with a part-member family who has
had missionaries in their home for 25 years. the father is not a
member. We have been eating with them regularly and teaching the fam
in hopes that something will spark in the father or the fam will start
living the gospel even more fully so as to set an example. The wife
speaks Spanish and the Spanish elders ended up visiting the family in
the middle of our lesson which was fine because they were able to give
us a ride. They went straight into resolving his concern. It was the
church itself; the fact that we believed in going to the church. He
believed that our relationship with God is personal and we don't need
to go to a brick building to have our relationship exist. We all
started to teach. It must have been rather intimidating having four
elders teaching you. It was also the most people I have ever taught
with on the mission. It was really weird. It went well though! The
spirit was there a Daniel I think we have a new direction when we go
over there now. I was reminded of actually resolving concerns not just
finding them.
Lately we have just been finding like crazy! On saturday we taught 4
people and got two fairly solid potential investigators. We have been
seeing a lot more success and it is awesome!
Sunday was again my favorite day this past week although I had some
really good days. I had an impression to turn to D&C 123 souring
sacrament meeting and so I did. I have been feeling really off, like
something major was wrong. I couldn't put my finger on it. In verse 14
it says "these things should be attended to in great earnestness" then
in 16 it says "a very large ship is benefitted very much by a very
small helm." I thought to myself, maybe the thing that I am lacking is
smaller than I think. Then I remembered D&C 88:67, "And if your eye be
single to my glory, your whole bodies shall be filled with light, and
the shall be no darkness in you; and that body which is filled with
light comprehendeth all things. Therefore, sanctify yourselves that
your minds become single to God." I realized that I need to work on
the small things again. A large ship is benefitted by a small helm;
decisions determine destiny; do not stray off course, not even one
degree. The "small" things are how God extend to us his grace and his
power. We invite the Holy Ghost into our lives which brings with it
the power of God to withstand temptations. I had a really cool
experience and I am getting more of them! It love it!
Well, that is all for this week! Thank you for all that you do! I love
you so much!
Love, your missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
