It's A Beautiful Day In Texas!
Hey famiglia! Come state ragazzi tutti facendo?
This week has been an interesting one. Remember how I told you about
how we taught so many people last week and that everything was going
really well? Well, for some reason, I just didn't feel it. I went down
hill and lost some motivation. I still knew that I needed to be out
and teaching and such but I just lacked the drive that I had just last
week. It was weird to me. I then went down hill in other areas which
really got me frustrated again. Nevertheless, I knew that I could
climb back up and that I must climb back up.
This area has started to get more lessons and people, however the
biggest problem that we are running into is getting consistent
lessons. We have a lot of people I our teaching pool, but we only end
up teaching them maybe once a month or twice if they aren't
particularly busy. Because of that, they don't progress much if at
all. Communication is a pretty big issue here. Nevertheless, we are
making headway with the members and on our own.
One of the ways that we have found some success is by doing something
that we call a blitz. Basically the whole district gets together in
one area and we all go contact for a couple hours. It has turned out
pretty well! We have seen about 8 or 10 new people to teach in our
area and in the Lantana ward. It has been pretty productive in this
area.
We and the zone leaders tried doing a Book of Mormon stand. It didn't
work as much as we would hope, but then again, there also isn't a big
social hub here in Flower Mound. We found it was much more effective
to just get a few companionships and go teach everyone in a park and
give everyone a copy of the Book of Mormon. We got to talk to a lot of
people.
For some reason, Sunday's are the best day of the week! It is probably
because the Lord has promised that it would be. Yesterday in a lesson
I was turning to D&C 6 to show the person we're teaching a scripture
and I saw verse 9. It says "Say nothing but repentance unto this
generation; keep my commandments, and assist to bring forth my work,
according to my commandments, and you shall be blessed." I thought to
myself, there are three principles in that verse. The verse explains
how to do missionary work and live the gospel in one sentence. The
gospel truly is simple.
I had a great time this last week and I am really learning a lot!
Love, your missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
