#Transfers - I'm Going Back to Arlington!

I don't know if any of y'all are keeping track but this week is the

end of this transfer. Aaaaaaannd, I am going back to Arlington!!! just

in case you couldn't read my subject line, yeah! I will be in the

Arlington 6th Ward serving with Elder Virgin. I am super stoked

because I get a car! Just in time for the hottest time of the year

haha. I feel so bad for Elder Parsons, he hates the heat and has to

bike in it everyday still.

This week I we had exchanges with the zone leaders. I was on exchange

with Elder Lehman (pronounced "Laman"). We have actually been really

good friends here on the mission. I am not sure why we are, we just

kinda clicked like me and Jaden Rock. One day, we were just friends!

So that was fun. We pretty much just had a big long heart to heart

about all of the things that we have learned on our missions and how

we overcame them all. It was really fun!

on our way back for lunch, Elder Lehman had a blow out so we ended up

walking back to our apartment. That was awesome! We tried fixing it

but it didn't really work, so  a walk to the bike store we commenced.

We got it fixed and we went to chick fil a for lunch! On the way over

to the bike shop, we realized that nothing in this work happens by

coincidence so we determined that we needed to go to the bike shop for

a reason other than Elder Lehmans tire. While we were there, we ended

up talking to a guy whose brother is actually a bishop! Pretty cool.

Not sure what needed to happen out of that, but I think he just needed

a reminder.

One of the traditions that Elder Lehman had on exchanges is teaching

the missionary he is with how to solve a rubies cube. I am pleased to

report that I now know how to mostly solve it. He is supposed to teach

me the rest of it today.

Bradon is going to be baptized on the 20th of this month. That is

alright with me that I didn't get to see him baptized this go round

but, it is alright! He is progressing and it will be awesome!

Chris Is still struggling with all kinds of things. We taught him the

love of God and how while there is opposition in all things, we are

truly here to feel joy. He seemed to have the wheels in his mind

turning so we're hoping that he continues to grow as new missionaries

come in and teach him.

So on Saturday, we had a surprise! A baptism! Sorry no pictures. the

young woman's name is Kallie. She is an investigator that we were

supposed to teach but the first Ward sisters had been teaching her,

which we knew about, but we were trying to get it all figured out.

Then, all of a sudden, the sisters told us that she as going to be

baptized last week. That was a tender mercy. I got to see a baptism in

this area. However, I did not feel the same love that I have felt in

the past but I think that that is because I did not teach her. I

didn't have the prayers and the thoughts that come with teaching. I

know that this work does in fact fill us with love! Her mom, Cathy, is

now going go take the lessons. Kallie is off to CMU in the next week

up in Colorado.

Something that has been on my mind recently actually goes a long with

my thought last week. It starts out with Helaman 5:12 which says:

"And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our

Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your

foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds,

yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his

mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to

drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the

rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation

whereon if men build they cannot fall."

Then if we look at how that verse shows us that we need to build our

foundation on Christ then think about how we do that, notice that the

very beginning says "remember remember that it is Christ." Where else

are we admonished to remember Christ? The first place that I think of

is in the sacramental prayers which read as follows:

"O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus

Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who

partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy

Son, and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are

willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him

and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may

always have his Spirit to be with them. Amen."

And,

"O God, the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus

Christ, to bless and sanctify this wine to the souls of all those who

drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy

Son, which was shed for them; that they may witness unto thee, O God,

the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may

have his Spirit to be with them. Amen."

The two things that are in both prayers are always remember Christ and

the promise that if we do, we will always have his spirit, then Holy

Ghost, to be with us. Yesterday during the sacramental meeting, I had

a thought to read in 3 Nephi where the resurrected Christ, who is

visiting the the people on the American continent, instituted the

sacrament. In verses 11-12 of chapter 18 Christ says:

"And this shall ye always do to those who repent and are baptized in

my name; and ye shall do it in remembrance of my blood, which I have

shed for you, that ye may witness unto the Father that ye do always

remember me. And if ye do always remember me ye shall have my Spirit

to be with you.

And I give unto you a commandment that ye shall do these things. And

if ye shall always do these things blessed are ye, for ye are built

upon my rock."

He continues to say:

"Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, ye must watch and pray always

lest ye enter into temptation; for Satan desireth to have you, that he

may sift you as wheat. Therefore ye must always pray unto the Father

in my name; And whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, which

is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given

unto you. Pray in your families unto the Father, always in my name,

that your wives and your children may be blessed."

By these words from the lips of Jesus Christ we come to understand

that it is by prayer, sacrament and also feasting on the words of

Christ that we build our foundation on His rock and we will not fail

if we continue to deepen and keep our relationship alive with Heavenly

Father and Jesus Christ through prayer and the sacrament. We avoid the

entrapment of Satan when we do these things. This is my testimony that

it is true have felt the power that comes from doing such on a daily

basis. It works! I know it does!

Well, here is my address in Arlington:

Until next week! Love you guys!

Love, your missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
