This week some stuff happened. Elder Sikaleti and I are getting along
a lot better than we were before. Largely due to President sending him
some leadership material. It is a lot easier to talk to him and get
communication going. We only have four more weeks together before
transfers so we will hopefully get things going well!
Danielle didn't come to church yesterday but hopefully we will see
her tonight (fingers crossed). She decided that she won't get baptized
on the 26th because that is the day right after Christmas so there
won't be a ton of people there and the YW want to be there too.
Hopefully she has decided the day so we can start planning it.
Last Saturday there was a stake training for all the leaders in the
stake... That is a lot of people. President Ames came and trained the
bishops, ward mission leaders and some wars missionaries on counseling
and other things... Man our ward council went from not very productive
to being able to get a few more things done that normally get done. We
have another training coming up because zone conference is this Friday
(YAY) and another leadership meeting on Saturday morning.
I know this is all stuff that you want to hear about but honestly, I
am running out of things to share.. A lot of what happens here is the
same old same old with not a whole tone changing. It is slow here and
we are trying to fix that.
One of the ways we are trying to fix that is by getting out a lot
more than we have been. Well while walking around we found a few
interesting people.. We ran into a guy that knew a temple president.
He knew a lot about the church and said that he wished he could
convince himself that Joseph Smith was a prophet and the like but he
said his wife would leave him if he joined. I wish that we could
have Saturday down with him and talked him through everything. We
didn't get that chance though... :/
As I have tried to think about what I can share with y'all today I
thought of the Christmas video at christmas.mormon.org. This christmas
season is not just for presents or parties but celebrating the birth
of our Savior. I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I have grown closer to
Him and feel His support. One of my favorite verses of scripture that
I have ever read and one that has a lot of meaning to me is Alma
7:11-13
"11 And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and
temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled
which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his
people.
12 And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of
death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their
infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to
the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his
people according to their infirmities.
13 Now the Spirit knoweth all things; nevertheless the Son of God
suffereth according to the flesh that he might take upon him the sins
of his people, that he might blot out their transgressions according
to the power of his deliverance; and now behold, this is the testimony
which is in me."
This gives me so much strength and comfort to know that despite how
lonely I feel, despite ow much pain I have, how much stress I am going
through and all of the hardships that I have ever had and will ever
have. This is something that I know with my heart to be true. Jesus
Christ has experienced EVERYTHING that you have gone through, are
going through and ever will go through. You are never alone. You got
me and Jesus.
"But, behold, Zion hath said: The Lord hath forsaken me, and my Lord
hath forgotten me--but he will show that he hath not. For can a a
woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on
the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee,
O house of Israel. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my
hands; thy walls are continually before me." ~ 1 Nephi 21:14-16
I love you guys so much! Merry Christmas!!!
Love, your missionary brother and son, Elder Jefferies
