You Could Say We Got Rained On!!

Well well well here we are at the beginning of November! That went by
fast wouldn't you say? I would like to apologize for the lack of
interesting things I sent in the email last week. This week went a
lot better than last week did which I am so happy about! To start off,
it rained. It didn't rain as much as it did when I was in Arlington
but it rained a lot. Apearantly there was a hurricane in the gulf so
that would explain the water.

I think other than the rain one of the best htings that happened this
week is we found a few people to teach and realized that what we need
to do: just talk to people. We also set three Baptismal dates this
week. Ramiro and his son Brandon as well a kid named Paul. So, they
were all potential investigators that we found in the areabook and
decided to go contact so that worked out pretty well! Their baptisms
will be (at least for now) on December 11th and 12th. So that is
really exciting!

For Halloween we were not allowed to go out after 6pm so we hung out
with the other elders in my district and we played life. Well we got
through the first game before we realized that we were playing it
wrong. So we played it again! It was pretty awesome! Then they needed
to go home and it was planning as normal.

We went on exchange again this week which was really fun! I went with
Elder Escobar again and we had a lot of fun and a lot of success. He
is fluent in spanish because he was raised in a bilingual home so when
we contacted someone who "didn't" speak english I just kinda stepped
aside and let him take over. I had no idea what he was talking about.
I cold pick up little pieces here and there like "Jesu Cristo" or
"iglisa" and "El Libro De Mormon" things like that. For the most part
though I just kinda looked back and forth. But it was fun!

Well that night we were planning on exchanging back because generally
they only last for 24 hours however because of the rain we decided it
would be better if we extended the exchange until the next day which
was awesome!!

There are so many things that i could say for my spiritual thought.
This week was amazing and there was a ton of spiritual moments I loved
it! I think one of the coolest things that I found this week was my
ponderize verse: Mormon 9:28

"Be wise in the days of your probation; strip yourselves of all
uncleanness; Ask not that ye may consume it on your lusts but ask
with with a firmness unshaken that ye will yield to no temptation but
that ye will serve the true and living God."

It goes well with the story of Daniel. In Daniel 1:8 it says that
Daniel had "proposed in his heart that he would not defile himself."
If you put those two together, it shows that you just need to decide
before hand. I have decided to just completely shut out the thought
which is what I should have done a long time ago but I never realized
that it is that simple.

If you decide now in your heart to keep the commandments of God
because you love Him and then follow through and actually act, you
will find power that is not your own helping you. I cannot over
express how critical daily scripture study and prayer are or how
important it is to keep the Sabbath day holy. Strive to make every
decision you make in this life stem from your knowledge of your
eternal destiny and potential. I love you guys very much and I pray
that you will strive to get to know our Savior as personally as you
can. Great power over temptation and great spiritual gifts come from
this.

Btw, my verse this week is Matthew 9:12-13

Love, you missionary son and brother, Elder Jefferies
