Buenas noches!!!
What's up! We are are here in Ocotal, it's been amazing to be here in this area, it's nace and cold here in the mountains and I'm loving it. As it comes to the area we are basically starting from scratch but it's been so cool finding new people. We saw a lot of miracles and I'm super excited for la hermana Maria who will be baptized this Sunday! She is amazing and her testimony is so strong, she's remained true to the answer she recieved from God when she read the Book of Mormon and I know her and her whole family will be blessed for it. She told us yesterday that she needed to be baptized this week and I know that she's so ready.
Yesterday we did a special fast with my comp and we asked Heacenly Father for help so that we could see miracles in our area and to find the people who really want to progress. I love fasting so much, each time that I have fasted the Lord has blessed us so much and this time didn't differ. To start off, we had a lot of our Investigators come to church with us in the morning including the family Ferrera! They are all on date to be baptized on the 1st of September and I'm super excited to see what's going to happen. In the afternoon we also found an amazing family, my comp and I were walking on the outskirts of Ocotal when all of the sudden I got the impression to talk with this lady who walked passed us. She invited us in her home and presented us to the 11 people that are in her family! The grandparents and their daughter were baptized 5 years ago, and now the rest of them are super thrilled to be baptized as well in a few weeks. They are super cool and I'm excited to work more with them this week.
Fun facts about Ocotal 🇳🇮
- "Ocotal" means "city of pines" in the native language of the indigenous people of Nicaragua. While most of the pine trees have been cut down, the mountains surrounding Ocotal are full of them and its been pretty wierd but to see.🌲⛰️
- Ocotal was one of the first cities in the world to be dive bombed when Nicaragua was at war with the United States! The people here are proud of their history and are not afraid to talk about how they feel about Americans in Ocotal haha. Still not sure if its 100% true but that is what everyone has told me.💣
Spiritual Thought
One of the most amazing things that our Heavenly Father has given us is the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is here to help us know of the truth if we are willing to ask. I love this famous scripture in Moroni 10:4-5, "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." Whenever we have doubts or questions, don't be afraid to ask the Lord and he will bear witness of the truth.
