What's up!
Last Wednesday I hit 1 year in the mission and it's just so crazy how amazing it's been. This has been the best year of my life, and while its been hard and exhausting at times the mission has been such a blessing to me. I think I might have lost a lot of muscle weight from eating rice and beans every meal haha, but I've never felt so happy before. I've grown to love the people of Nicaragua so much, and especially the people of Puerto Cabezas and the Carribean Coast. My 6 months here in Lamlaya has changed my so much, these people have shown me how to have faith and happiness despite whatever circumstances I am in. I'm so grateful for all of the experiences I've had here and the mission and I'm looking forward to this upcoming year as well.
Highlights or the week
- Got to see my converts Carlos Espinosa (the ex Moravian pastor) and Henry Pineda recieve the Melchizedek Priesthood from our mission President and help in these last Baptisms and confirmations!
- Our recent convert Roger Bushy (ex Catholic Priest) recieved the Aaronic Priesthood.
- Cow tipping with my comp (for those of you who have watched Cars)
- Enjoying my last week of teaching lessons in Miskito 😂
- Baptisms of Jermelin, the Guil Bushy Family, Bianca, and the Family Cornelio Flores! They were all miracles, but I'd like to talk about the family Cornelio Flores for a bit. The dad, Manuel, was a heavy alcoholic and the mom, Julia, was a strong Moravian (very similar to the Catholic church). They had gone to church manu times and had taught them for months (and dropped them various times, but out of the blue one day Julia asked us about baptism). She told us that she had come to realize for herself that she needed to be baptized like Jesus Christ in his church. It was like it all clicked in her head in one moment, and she asked if she could be baptized the next Sunday. After seeing the example of his wife, Manuel decided it was time he changed as well and he dropped drinking, smoking, and doing drugs the next day. It was so cool seeing their conversion, and it's helped me to realize how much we need the spirit as missionaries and the Lord's timing in everything.
- Fishing at the Dock
- Kissing at turtle head (and eating more Tortuga 😋)
- We had over 105 people come to our sacrament meeting last Sunday! It's been crazy to see how much the branch has grown in my time here, the attendance was about 35 my first Sunday. God has a lot of plans in store for Puerto Cabezas and I can't wait to see this district turn into a stake.
Phrases in Miskito 🇳🇮

Spiritual Thought
As missionaries we invite everyone around us to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We invite people have faith in him so that they can change or repent. I love this scripture in DyC 58:42-43 which says, "Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more. By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins—behold, he will confess them and forsake them." No one in this world is perfect, but we are slowly improving each day to more like Jesus Christ and God. It's a process that takes all of our life. When we repent and leave behind the bad things we have done, God will forgive us and help us as we make a change in our lives. I have seen how daily repentance has bettered my live and all of those around me, and I hope that everyone else can enjoy this amazing gift that we have from God as well
