¡Feliz Año Nuevo!
One of my favorite things about Nicaragua is that everyone celebrates holiday season. Throughout all of December, everyone goes crazy lighting fireworks, drinking, and playing loud music. It's been a blast learning and enjoying the new culture, but at times it can definitely a bit challenging for missionary life haha. One of the problems with our house is that our front "garage" door has a good 2 inch slot between the door and the ground, and the neighborhood kids here have figured out that it's the perfect amount of space to slide fireworks under the door haha. Christmas morning they caught me by surprise, I was talking to my family and all of the sudden a firecracker went off about 5 feet away from me! The kid was only 5 years old so we weren't too mad, but for New Years we made sure to put our shoes up against the door so we would be safe haha.
This week we have been able to do a lot of service and help a lot of different people. Today we had a cool experience with one of our investigators. I was prompted to take my first aid kit with us when we went out to teach, and when we arrived at the house of the families we found that the grandma had her cut her ankle the day before and was in a lot of pain. I was able to help her out (thank you boy scout/lifeguard training) and give her a blessing. I'm glad that God blessed me with the opportunity to help serve one of his children in her time of need.

Spiritual Thought
One of the saddest parts of this week was that on Christmas Eve there was a terrible bus accident that happened just outside of La Dalia. A lot of people lost friends, family, and loved ones, and many of them were asking us why God would allow this to happen to his children and if they would really be able to see them again. We were able to share with them how God has a plan for each and every one of us, and how through Christ we will be able to live again after this life. One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible is in 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 20-22, which says,
"20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.
22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive."
It is really extraordinary that we have this knowledge that we will be able to live again after this life with our families. It was amazing to be able to share this message with those who lost loved ones this holiday season and help them understand the love God has for each and every one of us.
