Hello Everyone!
It's crazy that it has already been almost 3 weeks since I was called as a missionary. The mission has been amazing so far and I am so grateful for the experiences I have had so far. Right now I am at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah learning Spanish and preparing to share the gospel with the people of Nicaragua. Today we begin the SYL portion of the training, where we are required to only speak spanish with everyone we meet and interact with. Mi español no es bueno ahora, but it will get better the more I practice.
I have been paired up with the best group in the MTC. We are all "peloteros" and it is so fun to hang out with them playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, etc. There's some fun games we play too, like carribeaner (the clip) tag. We try sneaking a carribeaner onto each other throughout the day, and whoever has it on them by night time has to do a punishment. I lost one night and I had to sleep in my church clothes. While we play a lot of fun games with each other, our group is also very spiritual. We can always take the time each day to learn, grow, connect with our Heavenly Father, and live our missionary purpose. All of us build each other up and help reach out when we see someone struggling. The MTC is also great because we get to hear devotionals on Tuesday from church leaders, and it was so cool hearing from President Pace (the Sunday School President) about the power of prayer.
My companion is Elder Hudson and he is pretty cool. He is like 6' 5" so he towers over me, so it is amazing playing ball with him we definetely dominate on the court. We are both the Zone Leaders for our branch, so we cover 5 Districts each consisting of 10-16 missionaries. We are in charge of planning and conducting the sacrament and priesthood meetings. We just got called last night so we got to meet up with the 3 new districts and introduce ourselves to them. We have a good zone and I am excited for the next 3-4 weeks we have left!
For anyone that is considering going on a mission I strongly encourage it! Its been so great and it is so cool to be blessed with the the spirit in your life and the gift of tongues. I have only been on the mission for less than a month but is definetely life changing! Hopefully by my next email I will be leaving for Nicaragua!
