this week has been pretty cool. To start with, we had the oppertunity to go see a temple sealing. It was for an elderly couple, (80's?) who had finally got everything in order so they could go to the temple. They didn't have any family in the area who could come so the party consisted of their home teachers, visiting teachers, two ward friends, and us missionaries. Since everyone was in their temple clothes, the temple presidency approved the use of the sealing room off of the celestrail room. It was so cool to see the love they had for each other and to realize that what they were doing was for eternity. Elder Tenney cried though all of it :). I wish we didn't have to wait till january for the next temple trip.
We also had an amazing oppertunity to go on an exchange with the Assistants to the President (AP's). All the other missionaries in our zone have never hear of the AP's going on exchanges with regular missionaries before so we were shocked and terrified when we found out about it. Of course the first thing we were thinking was what did we do wrong? Turns out though, they had planed an exchange with some Zone leaders who had to reschedual. After hearing that, the AP's had a prompting to ask President McAteer what he thought they should do. So we got an amazing oppertunity to learn from some of the best missionaries in the mission. I learned a lot there, mostly though, that everything we do should suround member missionary work. That night we sat down with an investigator and their recently sealed great grand parents. We as missionaries bring the spirit, but it's nothing like having a member involved. Or teaching in a member's house.
We are over at President Christenson's house today (a member of the mission presidency), watching some cheesy bonniville production clips about missionary work. We have some amazing people in our mission, district and ward, it's amazing to see people exploding with the light of Christ. It's a sight to see and it's a joy to see people accepting it for the first time.
