Dear Family and Friends,
Thank you all for your support and prayers for the people of Ecuador and I. I feel so blessed to have so people supporting me.
This week was a little tough because I have been sick since Monday night and am now just getting over the illness. Regardless I will share my week with ya'll.
Tuesday. I started the day waking up vomiting for about 2 and a half hours. I was told to take it easy for the day by the mission nurses. We worked for as long as I could before we had to return to the house. While we were out we taught Areli Torres. She is an investigator who is progressing really fast. We had a member there whose testimony was powerful. When I talked I felt like I could tell her the things she needed to hear and adjust the teaching yet keep it simple. The spirit helped me immensely . I like teaching this way. I feel so much happier and more love for the people this way.
Wednesday. The sickness progressed to a high fever late in the day, stomach pains , headache and fatigue. We also had to return early to the house because of this. We showed up to the house of Jorge Sanchez who was excited about our visits and whom we have high hopes for. Apparently, he has been told lies like we don´t believe in God or Jesus Christ or the Holy Ghost. This was a little heart wrenching but we talked with him and we asked if we could talk more about it a different day and he agreed. Later we talked with Brian Cedeno who has a problem that he wouldn't tell us about. We were asking him questions about it and then I felt in my heart that he had a problem with drugs. I knew the spirit spoke to me. Sure enough that was it. We were able to talk with him and offer help. He has been avoiding drugs for about a month now.
Thursday. We didn't leave the house because I was too sick to leave. All the symptoms the day before continued. Regardless, I studied. I studied about the spirit and came across a scripture in 1 Nephi 10:17. The spirit is the gift from God to all those who seek him. This is how I can obtain the spirit. Seek Him. The rules I follow and the studies I do are not duties but rather my choice to seek him. I also learned that the joy in the mission and the blessing is being an instrument in the hands of the Lord. It is not the stories I will be able to tell but being a instrument.
Friday was better than the day before. I still had a terrible stomach ache but I continued to work. I was able to contact someone and gain their trust enough to take lesson from us. I did this all without my companion saying a word. This was the victory today!!!
Saturday was my birthday. I am still recovering. Today we had our first baptism. I baptized a 14 year old named Adrian. It was amazing. When he came out of the water I felt so much joy. The spirit was there. I was so happy that he has entered into a covenant with his Heavenly Father and can live with him again. I was so happy for him.
Sunday. Adrian received the gift of the Holy Ghost and asked me to stand in the circle. I was happy for him. Later we taught an investigator named Carolina Baca. She is a model and doesn't have much time for lessons during the week but always come to church. We taught her the restoration. She truly has a desire to know which church is true. Later we taught an ancient investigator named Osvaldo. He's working on reading the Book of Mormon.
Thank you all again for your support and prayers
