Well, not a lot has happened this week that makes cool stories. But there has been rain pretty much every night for the past 4 days, and that's made some really cool thunderstorms. My companion and I would sit on the porch and watch some of them for a while out on our balcony after we get back for the night and finish planning. I love Houston storms! We've been riding our bikes through the warm rain here and it's been super fun! We get drenched but we make it really enjoyable ha ha.
This week has also been a week of almost completely having appointments fall through. But surprisingly because of this, I've had a lot of experiences where I have never felt so guided by the Lord. We were able to go see different people than we planned on and were able to get in with a lot of people. We met a guy from Peru and a bunch of other people that we never would have met if everything had gone the way we wanted it to. It's just is humbling and sometimes you just have to go forth trusting that God has a plan and try to follow the Spirit as well as you can. I also have learned a bit more about the Spirit and how essential it is in our lives. Praying and asking is the most commonly repeated commandment in all of scripture, and I think that is because there are certain blessings that we can't receive until we have the Humility to ask our Heavenly Father for them. But sometimes we don't know what we need. And I was reading in D&C this week and I read in section 50, verses 29 and 30 and it talks about how what we should ask for will be given to us. I never really thought of how the Spirit can actually guide our prayers before, but if we truly listen as we pray, our thoughts will be guided and we will receive answers and revelation that we have been looking for. The Spirit makes every part of life better when we have it, pray to have it with you always. The difference between having it and not having it has been very clear in my life. I want all you to have that guidance with you, that support, and the happiness that comes with having the Holy Ghost with you.
In other news, I threw up at a less active's house this week. We had just had 2 other meals with members and investigators before I went over and we weren't expecting to eat with them, and so I had eaten as much as I could the meal before because it was super good! But we got there and they started laying out the food and I was just like "Oh no.. Please no..." So I started eating, because the fastest way to offend a Hispanic is to turn down their food. And I ate, and it smelt super bad, but I ate anyway and smiled. And I thought I was going to be fine, but it did NOT sit well in my stomach. And yeah, that happened. So that's my embarrassing story for the week.
I love you all and I pray for you everyday. I hope it's helping :)
