Libraries are closed!
Hey Everyone!!!
Sorry this is coming a day later than usual. Yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. day and I learned that apparently all the libraries are closed that day. So I don't hate you all, everyone was just busy celebrating civil rights and such.
Hope everything is going alright with all of you. Well it's been an interesting week this week. On Friday was our first district meeting since transfers. It was weird not having a lot of the people there that I'm used to having. A lot of funny and super cool people got transferred out which I was sad to see, but the new missionaries are nice, and I'm sure they'll be great once we get to know them all more.
Another big thing that's happened this week was we won the zone activity. So basically what that means is that our zone had the best scores when our apartments got inspected, most investigators at church and a bunch of other scores factor into it. But we had the highest score in the mission for the month. And what that means is that on our P-day, we go and do something fun with the mission president for most of the day. So what we did this time is we went to a huge park up in the Woodlands next to a gorgeous lake and we played volleyball, soccer, football, ultimate frisbee, and had lunch. It was like perfect weather too, clear skies and mid 70's. We were all sunbathing at one point, so those of you in Utah who are freezing your butt off, I hope that makes you jealous ;) But it was really cool and so much fun! Our zone is soo funny and we all had a really good time.
After that we went and drove around and saw a bunch of the huge mansions up there. The Woodlands is a really wealthy area so there were some really big and really cool looking houses. It felt really weird being there after I've been living in the ghetto for the past 2 months. It was a great day though.
On the investigator front, Hector and Reyna didn't show up for church yesterday and our schedules haven't really matched up for the past couple of days. But we're planning on going and seeing them tonight. We're still planning on their baptism being this Saturday, but we've got a lot to teach them. We're going to push hard to try to get them ready, but if they aren't we'll have to push back their day another week, and that's okay. We're teaching them so that they understand that they can choose to come to God and find more happiness in their lives, not to have a baptism. But we want them to be able to have the Holy Ghost more in their lives so we want to get them to that ordinance as soon as possible. Your guy's prayers would be very appreciated.
But anyway, another thing I want to share is something I've learned this week. And that's about acting with faith. I don't know about you guys, but I've prayed a lot in my life to just have blessings or ask for things I need but don't really do anything about it. I've just waited for it to come because I've asked. But what I've learned is that we need to act before some blessings will come. We have to act as though something is going to happen when we ask for it, even if we haven't seen any proof it's going to happen. When we are sick and we pray for strength to go and do something, we need to get up and go do it believing that we will be made better even if we don't feel any better yet. We need to do everything we can before a miracle will happen, and after the trial of our faith will the evidence and blessings come.
Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Love,
Elder Schloer
