Martinique Week 2

I'm currently writing this letter and wishing I had put on deodorant. Pretty soon my companion will start wishing that too.

Which reminds me, one weird thing here is the deodorant! Here it is slightly different than at home, there are 2 types though:

1. Spray on. Spray on deodorant here is like if you want to smell good for about 2 seconds. It has almost no lasting smell after 17.5 seconds and by the 30 second mark you smell worse than before.

2. Roll on. It literally is roll on. It has a small round ball that is scented. It feels quite nice but is however less effective than regular deodorant at home. Also the scents are always super girly like vanilla or rich blossoms. Nothing to truly mask my sometimes intense, fatigued, and smelly body.

But that's enough talk about deodorant for now, let's move on to.... MISSIONARY WORK!!!!!

This week was extremely exciting because it was very successful.

We taught a man named Dexter who is from St. Lucia. He's awesome because each time we go to teach him he invites more people into the leçons. We are now teaching his...
Wife
Sister-in-law
Friend
Mother-in-law
Friend's sister!

It's been amazing to teach them all but the hardest part is that not all of them speak the same language and so we teach one leçon in French and one in English. It's confusing but worth it. Yesterday we explained to him the importance of baptism and then the importance of baptism with the proper priesthood authority. He was very nice and accepted our invite to pray to know if the church is true.

We also taught a woman named Chantelle. She has a baptism date for the 3rd of June and she is determined that she will be ready for that date so we are all very excited for her.

This week's highlight was seeing my family on Skype for Mother's Day. It was amazing to see them and to know that this work is important for each one of us. We are all serving together!

I would like to share a brief testimony about missionary work. I know it is ordained of God and that each one of us (missionary tag or no tag) can serve the Lord.

1 Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
2 Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day.
3 Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work;
4 For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul.

I know these things to be true, I love each and everyone one of you and hope you all have a great week.

Love, Elder Casady
