Elder Jackson Metler

Calling Random numbers?

Heyooo everyone so I feel like this week actually a lot happened. We got transfer news, and as expected, Elder Metler is headed out. He is going to Revere, Massachusetts to be companions with Jack Kelly! Kind of a small world. It's gonna be good for him because he has been in RI for 6 months and he just needs a change. Let's say that his "motivation" has been really lacking as of late. My new comp is Elder Harris, and I don't really know much about him except he has been out for about 5 months, that he was originally assigned to Mexico, but has only served in English areas. I may not be training him for real but I am definitely gonna be training him to be a Spanish missionary and I'm super excited about it. I have only heard good things about him, so should be good.
We began a new tactic of finding this week. We discovered that we can look up random numbers on white pages and then see if they are connected to a real person. We found the common latino numbers and hit the jackpot. We call them and say, "hey is this Kevin?" (obviously it's not Kevin) and then basically just do a normal contact as if we were at the door step. We have set up 4 return appointments from it so far! Kinda dope and I'm super excited to keep trying it, because it brings a little spice into our work. It also allows us to reach people that haven't been contacted before. We had a little miracle while using this method. One of the ladies that we set a return appointment with, had actually recently been talked to by missionaries in New Jersey but they kinda lost contact. We happened to just call her, because she has a Rhode Island number and we were able to rekindle that contact. She is a super awesome lady with lots of potential and we are excited to pass her off to the elders in New Jersey.
We had a lady this week that attempted to bash us. It's the lady that gives us food every week, although she isn't a member, she is just in our English class. She was trying to go at the Book of Mormon, and she was one of this ladies that just won't even let you talk basically. I knew she was set in her ways, I knew she wasn't gonna change no matter what I said, and I didn't wanna lose food from her so I just listened and then invited her to read the book on her own and ask God if it's true. And that was that. I said all I needed to and we still have a good relationship even tho I didn't like a lot of things she said lol.
They unfortunately took away our afternoon exercise time and reduced the number of hours we are allowed to do service per week which was kinda tough. That basically just means we are stuck in the house even more than we were before. Being in the house with only one other person all day is kind of tough but it will all be worth it in the end.
Idk if ya'll remember, but when I was in New Haven I used to talk about a chick named Elena. She didn't actually live in New Haven, she lives in Bolivia, but we used to teach her when I was there. She is the crazy one that couldn't get over the fact that we won't be perfect in this life, and then she confessed her love for me. Yeah, that one. Anyways, I found out this week that she got baptized in December!!!! I was in SHOCK. We taught her for 5 months and were close to baptism but I never thought it would actually happen. Now she is preparing for the temple! It's so cool to see how the fruits of your labors become manifested later. I was so pumped.
Also, a lady gave us chicken divan this week and your boy was big time happy. Recuerdos from la casa.
This week I was reading in Mosiah and Abinadi is such a beast. The man is so strait forward with King Noah and I only aspire to be like him. BOLD. Bold but to uplift others. Love that. I love you all, have a great week!

Cosas De RI
1. My companion accidentally called our recent convert and idiot in Spanish. Luckily she didn't hear, but I turned to him and said, "plz don't say that, plz don't call her that, just don't."
2. I didn't know that anyone was worse at singing than me.........
