“No One Said—“

Siis...tämä viikko oli V A I K E A!
This week was rough folks. It didn't go like I'd hoped, but there's still miracles don't worry.
When I came out on the mission, I was expecting hard. And I wouldn't say I was excited for it... but I was so pumped for it to be hard. Then God showed me what hard means.
This week has been full of cancelled appointments, people that just give us the "nicest" looks, sketchy neighborhoods, and a little bit of homesickness.
Almost all of our lessons this week seemed to fall through. People that we found that seemed so pumped to hear about the gospel kinda fell off the face of the earth. Or the address we thought was theirs was their mom's who by the way has her own church. Or their husband tells us to go away through the door. Or they just straight up block our calls. No one wants us at the moment.

Another funny story, we were walking in this neighborhood and we come up to this door. There's some nice cars in the driveway, and the second we step foot on their property something starts beeping. Then we go up to the door and another thing starts beeping and as I'm pressing the doorbell the guys voice says "What do you want" and I'm all like "Hey were missionaries for Jesus Christ, how are you?" And he's like "Imma have to ask you to leave to premises immediately." So we booked it off their porch. Pretty sure their into some shady business in a neighborhood like that...

Another story, haha this one was not the funnest. We knocked on this guys door and we introduce ourselves as the missionaries. He got a jacket and came outside. I thought "great we get to share!" But he just wanted to bash us and talk about racism and how Bill Gates wants to block out the sun, and some other random stuff I've never heard of because I'm on a mission to share the gospel not worry about the celestial orb in space being messed up by some guy. Anyway, I'll stop ranting about the bad stuff, but I just wanted to paint a picture of my week xD.

In short, it taught me a lot. It taught me about patience. It taught me that we really do need to stand up for our beliefs. It taught me that God is still aware of me, even if I can't see it all the time.
Here's some miracles (because they're always there!):
1. We decided to visit some people that we haven't been able to contact for over a week (who we were about to stop teaching because they weren't in contact) and two of them actually answered the door and said they were still interested. So awesome!

2. A member last night fed us on a whim because he found out we didn't eat yet. It was awesome because I didn't really have a plan for dinner and it was fast Sunday. And there was Playdough Ice-cream! Go try it rn!

3. I got to go to church yesterday.

Overall (this is getting long sorry), this week was not my favorite. But that's not the reason I'm on a mission. I'm not here to take a nice long vacation meet a few people and not worry about taxes or whatever adults do haha. I'm here to share the gospel. The thing that has given me the most joy in my life. A joy that I can't find in anything else. I'm here to share that because that sucks that someone out there wants that, but doesn't even know where to look. 2 Nephi 2:2 "...thou knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain." I trust that God has a plan for me, and he sees more than I can right now. I invite all of you to look for how he's blessing your life in ways that maybe you haven't noticed before. I love you all, God loves you, and He loves you so much that He sent His son to die for YOU. Anteeks että se oli pitkä sähköposti, mutta kiitos kun luit sen.

Rakastan teitä,
Vanhin Johnson
