Ethan Scott Belliston

Through faith, we are spiritually refined & strengthened

If you only have a little bit of time to read please read Friday. Just thought I'd let you know that I forgot my journal this week so I'm doing this all off of memory so bear with me.

Monday, August 14:
P-Day!!!! Good Stuff!!!
Tuesday, August 15:
District meeting, and lots of meeting with less actives.
Wednesday, August 16:
All of our lessons was a hard day but a great learning experience. We were able to meet with some less-active members and invite them to come back to church
Thursday, August 17:
First meeting with mission president (besides the day I met him). It went great!
Friday, August 18:
Lessons canceled and it felt like no one was home. Elder Belliston and I got to a point later in the day and decided to try dropping by a Bible referral for a lady named China. A bible referral is when someone in our area requests a Bible online so we go by and give it to them. We were able to share a quick message about the Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment after giving the Bible and Book of Mormon to her. As we were walking away from her house we saw a man walking down the street. So I walked up to him and asked if we share a message with him. Elder Belliston and I were about 6 seconds into talking with him when he asked if we were Mormons. We said yes and he told us that he had met with some Elders about 10 years ago but lost contact. Upon further questioning he had been committed to baptismal date but hadn't been able to kick the habit of smoking. A few minutes later he invited us to come to his home. Once at his home we were able to share a lesson with him and set up a return appointment. He seems to be ready to relearn about the church.
Saturday, August 19:
We went to Donalsonville and Colquitt to meet with lots of people we had appointments with. Great day full of spiritual moments.
Sunday, August 20:
Regular Sunday meetings. Elder Belliston and I were asked to teach the young mens class so that was really fun!

Scripture and Quote

Ether 12:6
"And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I (the Lord) would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith."

"Like the intense fire that transforms iron into steel, as we remain faithful during the fiery trial of our faith, we are spiritually refined and strengthened."
-Neil L. Andersen

I know that there are times in our lives that we are put through tough times. But like the process in which iron is purified and turned into steel, we must go through the fire to become stronger. I have seen this time and time again in my life. I have seen in it the mission field and it has been an amazing experience. Please do not allow the hard times in our lives to weaken us. Use them to strengthen us and make yourself better. I love each and everyone of you and the impact you have made in my life. I love the knowledge the gospel has brought to my life. I leave these thing with you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
