Letter 19

Whats up everyone!
Finished the first week without my man Elder Guzman. It was a little weird at first, but this week actually went really well. It didn't start out too hot. I lost our phone like hours after I got my new companion. He was probably thinking, great how did I get stuck with this guy. So,we still don't have a phone and I don't think we are going to have one for the rest of the transfer. It definitely sucks, but I have actually learned a lot from it. Now, I have to think of exactly everything that I'm going to do for the day and who I need to talk to before the day starts. I guess for that reason it's been a blessing because it's helped me learn how to be a little more efficient.

I can't remember what I told you about Elder Ramirez last week, so I'll just tell you everything again this week. He's from Paraguay. He's 19 and he has one more transfer than me on the mission, so we're both really young. He's super awesome. We are both still learning, so we are kind of teaching each other. He's always happy and he's always smiling. I've never seen him frown or look unhappy, so that's good. And he loves music. He always has the EFY music playing, because that's all we can listen too haha. I really like him. He is a cool guy.

I'm directing the area this transfer, so even though Ramirez is the senior companion, I feel like the senior companion because I'm pretty much doing everything right now. He just doesn't know the area, so I have definitely learned a ton. Our area has really been progressing lately. I've really been seeing los milagros (miracles) everyday. Like one time, we were on our way to visit somebody that we contacted earlier and we knocked on the wrong house. We started talking to the people that lived there and they were interested in the message. We left with 3 new investigators. Just stuff like that keeps happening almost every day! The Lord puts people in our path that are ready to hear the gospel. After a little trial and error and lots of training, it's been awesome to see this progress on my mission. Our next baptism is set for the 29th of this month. Her names Marjuri and she finally came to church yesterday. She is progressing really well and I am really excited to see her grow.

One of the things that I have really been trying to work on is charity and just loving the people I'm serving. I have really noticed a difference, especially with Ladis, the old man whose hair I cut last week. When I was first starting out, I was like "man we got take care of this old man" and I was dumping his toilet buckets and was just thinking "this is so nasty." But my perspective of him has completely changed. Now, I see things more through his eyes and how lonely he is and he doesn't really have anyone to take care of him. I have developed a desire to help him with whatever he needs. Even if it means I have to dump his toilet buckets haha. That's it for this week. Have a good one!

Feliz Navidad,
Elder Andelin
