Letter 13
¿Como esta mi gente? KLK dame la luh. What's going on everybody? It's Elder Andelin again. Elder Guzman has been teaching me some words in Dominican Republic because they have like their own language there haha. Another week in the books and it was a good one. Something went wrong with our deposits this week so we didn't actually get money until like 2 days ago. So I lived off of 10 soles for the week! (that's like 3 dollars) It was a little rough, but the members came in clutch. We basically just ate whatever we could find. One night I had this giant piece of cake for dinner haha. So I think Im getting all of my vitamins haha. One lesson we were in this week we were talking about the Book of Mormon and we asked one of this girls if she remembered who the last prophet of the Book of Mormon was and she mixed up Mormon and Moroni and said Yeah it's Mormoni. I thought that was pretty funny.
Lots of ups and downs this week, I had some moments where I felt frustrated with everything. Like how we teach our investigators these great lessons and the spirit is there and they're understanding and then the next day they forget everything. So, I'm learning to be patient with everything and myself too. I gave 2 blessings this week. The actual blessing this time! It went pretty good. I couldn't really say anything amazing, but that's ok. That's not really what matters anyway. One thing I have noticed is that I'm starting to see the people the way that God sees them. Although sometimes I get frustrated with everyone that we teach, I can just see all of their potential and it's pretty cool because I couldn't see it before. I'm learning you have to be able to love the people in order to be a successful missionary. I think I'm understanding that a little more each day.
The highlight of my week was when we were driving to the place where we take out our money and Elder Guzman talked to the driver and did his thing and finessed him a Book of Mormon. Then when we got out of the car, he told me it was my turn next. I was a little nervous, but when it came time, I sat in the front and I started talking to the driver a bit cause you can't just jump in and preach repentance to people. I asked him a little bit about his family and at first it seemed like he didn't want to talk, but then he started opening up and he asked me about the church. I answered some of his questions and I taught him a little about the restoration and I even gave him the restoration pamphlet. It was awesome. The thing that amazed me the most is that I could understand every word that he said and it helped me realize how far I've come these past 7 weeks. I still have a lot to learn, but I have to give my self some credit sometimes cause I have really come a long way. That's it for this week. Have a good one!

to the Family-
Hey so yeah the cards still not working. I know you're doing all you can, so thank you, but i hope it works soon cause I need to pay for my quad. But yeah the next package that you send I hate to keep asking for stuff and sounding ungrateful, but I want you to send me like 5 of my ties in my closet that aren't floral. I have a pink one and that green and gray one and that blue one. So, I would like those the next package. Also, if you could send me some scissors that would be great, and a comb to trim my eyebrows cause they're a little crazy. We had a baptism this week, but it fell through. It was weird. We had this guy named Victor and we've been working with him for a while and he's come to church 4 weeks in a row now and he had his interview and he passed and he showed up the next day at the baptism and backed out and said he wanted to talk to his parents {even though he's 22 }. So, I think he got scared, we did everything we could. We even prayed with him to see how he felt, but he wanted to do it another day. It was weird, so well keep working with him. I learned that Satan will do everything he can to stop the work of the church cause we always seem to have problems with the baptism stuff. But it was a good week, I had another intercambio with a member and it went great. I'm really getting better. I basically taught the lessons all by myself, so it was a good week.
