Last letter
Well this is my last email. Crazy that my mission is coming to an end. I think my subconscious is trying to find a way to tell itself that this really isn't the end and that I still have a while left because it really hasn't hit me. My last week has been absolutely brilliant though. Since I know I am leaving we've been spending a good portion of our time saying by to members and friends and the rest of our time preparing our friend Jiret for his baptism this week. We've been working with Jiret ever since I've been here and it's great that he's ready to make the step of being baptized into the church. Brother Mason, our ward mission leader, will be baptising him. They've established quite a good relationship and I'm confident that Jiret is in good hands.
I also had my final zone conference this week. That was really odd. To be fair zone conferences have always felt a bit different for me since President Hughes left. Don't get me wrong I love President Gallacher but I just feel like a dinosaur now. It's sad to look around and not see familiar faces of missionaries who I grew so close to but it's also great in a way to see this new wave of younger missionaries take their place.
I've been pondering about what I have learned out here these past two years and how I feel about this experience. There is quite a bit I don't feel like I am able to properly communicate but if I had to sum it up it would be love. I have learned how important love is in all that we do. It is by far the greatest motivating factor and always has been and always will be. It is what motivated me to go on a mission, stay out on a mission, and is what is motivating me to go back home. What motives God? Love. What motivates Christ? Love. It is by far the greatest motivating factor. I love the people of this country and am so grateful for the love they have shown for me. A mission has been the best thing I have ever done with my life. I will dearly miss it.
