Hey Everyone, it's been a good last couple of weeks. Missionary work is so much more fun and effective now and I'm so glad I get to be a part of it during this long awaited update. I was quite honestly so fed up with door knocking and street contacting anyway, which "too often didn't work to well anyway" to quote Elder Uchtdorf in one of the latest MTC devotionals. It's so true though! I have knocked hundreds if not thousands of doors on my mission and I think I have gotten one phone number out of it, and the person didn't even end up responding to us. I'm not saying that knocking doors didn't work very well in the past, although Elder Holland did call it "hopeless" a few weeks ago and said it was better for disciplining missionaries than actually finding people to teach, but we find ourselves in a world where cold calling is almost hated, especially by the British people. I am relieved that we are further tailoring the way we do missionary work for the culture and environment of this "royal throne of kings".

We've been doing a lot more service recently. We have been doing it both by ourselves and coordinating with the stake Just Serve council to help organize activities and talk to places we are currently serving at about signing up to be on JustServe. It has been fantastic. We have gotten so many positive responses from posts we have put on community Facebook groups and have filled our schedule with gardening and helping at food banks and homeless shelters. We had one single father reach out to us who was struggling to maintain his garden while having to work and take care of his kids so went over to help. We spent about an hour or so there but got less than half of the way done so offered to come back another day with some of the local ward members to help. We told the Elders Quorum what was going on and a few days after that we went back with a handful of Elders and the Stake President, who brought an arsenal of high quality gardening tools. It was awesome! He was so grateful and asked us all a lot of questions about the church and even made us cheesecake to eat before we left. It was so amazing to have members there, they told their conversion stories and just had some really good conversations with him in general. We're hoping to invite him to church in about a week or so as he insisted we keep in touch. That is just one of a handful of other positive service experiences we've had. It has truly been incredible.
