Subject: Who doesn't love General Conference?

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Dear family,

This week was pretty good. We didn't really get to meet with any investigators, but we were super busy, so the week went by fast. We started off with exchanges. I was with my old companion, Elder Lindgren, in Lapeer. That went pretty well, Elder Lindgren's
a nice kid. President Cleveland has asked us to teach every lesson to each other on exchanges. Doing this helps us to become better teachers, master the doctrine, and cut the fluff. So I'm getting lots of practice teaching.

On Thursday Elder Smith had his year temple trip. We left at 7 am to meet up with some other Elders and exchange. Elder Smith went to the temple, while I spent the day in Clarkston with Elder Becker. I like Elder Becker, he's pretty cool. While I was with
him we did lots of service. We helped out at a St. Vincent de Paul thrift store, where we did various odd jobs, like stocking the shelves. It was fun.

After exchanging back from that we drove back to Port Huron and then had a lesson with James and Laurie. They are doing well. We talked about following the prophet and then showed them how to watch conference. They seemed pretty excited. Who wouldn't be?
I know I was! After seeing them we returned home, getting back after 8. It felt like a long, but good day.

As a missionary, General Conference is kind of like Christmas (at least, I think so). All of the talks were great, it's hard to pick a favorite. A few talks that I liked were given by: President Nelson, Elder Andersen, Sister Jones, President Uchtdorf,
and Elder Stevenson. Elder Rasband, President Eyring, and Elder Palmer are also worth mentioning. :) I just love the spirit that comes with conference. We are so blessed to be led by 15 prophets, seers, and revelators. Here are some of the quotes I liked (as
best as I can remember them):

"We need not be paralyzed with fear; instead, we can move forward with faith."
-Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"True disciples of Jesus Christ are willing to stand out, speak up, and
be different from the people of the world." -Russell M. Nelson

"There is unusual power in making and keeping covenants with our Father." -Joy D. Jones

"Stay close to the spirit, and the spirit will stay close to you." -Gary E. Stevenson

I hope all of you were able to get as much out of it as I did. I invite you to record your thoughts and impressions. It will be a great blessing to you. :)

So, transfer calls are this will be interesting to see what happens. I will let you know next week. Until then, I hope you all have a great week! I love and miss you!
