Tahlequah, OK

Elder Manning

Hello Brothers and Sisters! Happy mothers day to all my mothers out there! I hope that yall had a great mothers day!

Also I am sorry about not being as consistent with my emails! We have been crazy busy and I haven't been able to write as much as I would like. But with that being said, let's get into this week!

So our friend Una got Baptized! She is incredible! Darryl, who was Baptized in March performed the Baptism. It was a very special day. Una come from a very Christian family (like the rest of the people of Oklahoma haha). Her parents were not supportive of her being being baptized in the "Mormon" church. People do not like us at all here haha. Una is a freshman at Northeastern state university here in Tahlequah so it was hard for her to not have her parents support. But Una knew what she believed. God had spoken to her by the power of the Holy Ghost and in the words of Joseph Smith "I knew it. And I knew that God knew it. And I could not deny it." So she acted in faith and decided to continue on with the Baptism. After much prayer, the Lord performed a miracle for our friend Una. Her whole family came to the Baptism. Her father even said the opening prayer! After her Baptism, her family invited Elder Hill over to their house for dinner! We were shocked to say the least. It was a miracle. Una has such a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel. She is already talking about serving a mission so she can share what has blessed her life so much. Una is incredible!

Another cool thing that happened this week is that Elder Hill and I were in the newspaper! A lady asked to write a piece on us and she did an awesome job! When it was posted on Facebook, it blew up!! So many people commented on it. Some good, and some not so good haha! It really strengthened my testimony though. We get way persecuted out here in Oklahoma. We are right in the Bible belt. Oklahomans are proud to say that Oklahoma is the "buckle" of the Bible belt. Other Christian faiths do not like us at all. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the Prophet Joseph. But the true Church of Christ has been persecuted since the beginning of time. Some of the Saviors words were brought to my remembrance.

3 Nephi 12:11 And blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake;
12 For ye shall have great joy and be exceedingly glad, for great shall be your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

I felt honored to stand with the Prophets of old, Joseph Smith, and the Savior Himself. Heavenly Father always has a way of comforting us. Despite all the hate, Elder Hill and I knew something great would come out of it. So, we walked to an appointment and the girl wasn't home so we started walking back home (we can't tract anymore otherwise we would have kept grinding). We felt inspired to go a different way than the way we had came. As we walked, we heard a guy say "Aye! Are yall those walking Christians I saw in the paper?" We said "yessir we are!" He was a Native American man we so we said "Clifford, did you know that Jesus Christ visited your ancestors?" He had no idea what the Book of Mormon was and so we told him all about it and set up a time to come back and tell him how we got it. He is so excited to learn about the Saviors ministry in America. If it wasn't for that article in the paper, we never would have found Clifford. The Lord has a perfect plan, so much better than our own. He is so loving and merciful, I am humbled and grateful. I love the Savior His Gospel. I am thankful for all those who have made sacrifices so that I could have the Gospel in my life. I am thankful for all the mothers out there. I have been blessed with some amazing women in my life. I love yall! Have a great week! God speed!
