Update on Coronavirus

Dear families of missionaries in Piura, Peru,

We are pleased to inform you that all of our missionaries are still safe and well. The missionaries are following the safety guidelines and are staying in their rooms as much as possible to prevent contact with people that have been infected. They are using this time to the best of their ability to fortify their own testimonies though diligent study of the scriptures as well as fortify the members and investigators alike by making phone calls periodically throughout the day to share scriptures and uplifting spiritual thoughts. The church and the government have been increasing their efforts to prevent the spread of the disease. As of now, the missionaries are only allowed to leave their rooms to buy food and go to their pensionistas to eat lunch. Because of this, all the missionaries have been instructed to buy all of the food and water that they will need to live for the next two weeks, just in case they cannot leave for any reason. Although it is unlikely that they will need to be used, two week survival kits have also been prepared and are being sent out to all of the missionaries in the mission just in case they become completely quarantined and in their room. None of the missionaries in the mission are experiencing the symptoms of Coronavirus and we know that as they remain obedient and faithful to their callings and the safety guidelines that they have been given, they will be watched over and protected by our Heavenly Father. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to let us know.
