Fate Fell Short This Time

very fitting subject line elder olsen. very fitting. you going to be ok? probably not. you going to still go out and work anyways? you bet your bottom dollar. will you ever fully recover from this? who knows..

ok lets just get it all out of the way. yes i heard blink came out with a new single, yes i heard about tom leaving, yes i heard the guy from alkaline trio took his place, yes i heard they are coming through utah in a dream lineup, im a little shaken by this. can we all just move on? id rather not talk about it. thank you.

so on a less depressing note, this week really picked up!

not really sure all that happened but the work really picked up this week and kept us busy! we got a couple new investigators, several referrals, coincidence? not even close. referrals really are the way to missionary work, or at least thats what ive experienced. if you get referrals, you get new investigators, you get more member present lessons, you get the members excited, you get more referrals, and it just keeps building up. thats the way to it. its almost as if it were prophetic? hmm. thank you president hinckley!

but so to go along with all of this, we have started a 40 day fast. and so the way this is working here, ive heard it done differently, but so here the members who feed us fast from breakfast and lunch the day they signed up and then break their fast at dinner. in their fasts they are asked to include the work to progress in this area and for missionary opportunities, along with anything else theyd like to include in their fasts. and the past couple of weeks have been rather dry, but this past week we were fed everyday, and its weird how the week that we get fasting everyday, the work picks up. but is it weird though? not really. its true! sacrifice really does bring forth the blessings of heaven. like yeah, maybe i wont be seeing blink 182 this year, but maybe just maybe ill get to with an even better lineup later on in mine and their lives.

oh yeah we got hit pretty hard this week with some storms but im alright and so is my companion. we were safe for the most part of the week. we did have to go to the church at like 1 in the morning tuesday/wednesday. but we lived!

this week during district meeting i read a scripture in 2 nephi 33: 10.

it really enjoyed it and i hope you all do to!

10 And now, my beloved brethren, and also Jew, and all ye ends of the earth, hearken unto these words and believein Christ; and if ye believe not in these words believe in Christ. And if ye shall believe in Christ ye will believe in these words, for they are the words of Christ, and he hath given them unto me; and they teach all men that they should do good.

the gospel is true. in the words of my MTC district. the church is SO true!

i love you all!

-Elder Olsen.
on another positive note, we have this investigator who has a couple blocks of clay and wheel so.. you all know how stoked i am to get on that! it has been quite some time since ive thrown. i think sometime this week is when its all going down.. or up? depends on how you look at it. so that is something i am way stoked about. and a quick apology to everyone, i forgot my camera but we did definitely make smores using my grill this past week. thats become a tradition for at least every saturday night.
