Ft. Smith, Arkansas

Elder Jensen

yeah sorry! last week was rushed. but yep thats my companion! he's way cool! he's awesome and we get along really well! elder jensen has been here for 2 transfers already. but just so you know, elder pack actually served in a place called fort scott. thats up in kansas. thats where elder lopez is right now. i get them mixed up quite a bunch but yeah just so you know.

so to be honest though this area is dead. not too much has been going on, and the ward isnt too involved it seems. so theres some work to do. they just printed off a ward roster and there are about 800 members in this ward with about 175 active attendance. so.. we have some work to do. with the amount of ground we cover, we cover the most population in the mission. between ft. smith, van buren, barling, and some other surrounding areas its about 120,000 people that we cover. most of the other cities have other sets of missionaries there so its not as bad and is split fairly even. but not here!

but yeah i got this tiny cheap little charcoal grill from wal-mart and we had some hot-dogs. it was a good time. me and elder jensen grilled some chicken on saturday and it came out really good! yeah its been a blast, i took it apart so i could transfer it here. when i took it apart and stacked the lid with the bottom it virtually didnt take up any room cause then i could put stuff in it too. but yeah thats what the pictures from last week were from, mine and elder walkers, BBQ out in the middle of nowhere while we planned. it was a good time!

so just my responsibilities as a zone leader i am kind of like a "stake president" for the mission. we work with the assistants then take what we got from them and then take it to the district leaders and then they work with their individual districts. we also have to plan a meeting for the entire zone once a month, but thats better than every week like i had to do for 5 transfers cause i was district leader.

anyways, i need to get going. love you!

oh yeah, and MLC stands for mission leader conference. it is generally just for the zone leaders and sister training leaders but they all talk about their zones and stuff, i think. not really sure. cause ive only been to the one and it was different cause they asked the district leaders to be there as well. but they have it every first tuesday of the month or something like that.

also, could you send me some spanish materials? i got a spanish-english dictionary but like some other beginner spanish stuff, that would be very much appreciated! muchos gracias!

How is everything in Ft. Smith? I have been reading some about it and it sounds like a really great place!! I am happy that you get to serve there. Tell me all about it please. You did neglect to give me some information like who your new companion will be a things like that. I however do have some sources and found out that your companion is Elder Jensen from Malad, Idaho, which isn't too far away at all. I found out that he has been out for about 20 months. His mother actually found me on the Arkansas Bentonville Facebook page. It was kind of fun visiting with her and Elder Bedolla's mom. She shared a picture of all of you BBQ-ing Hot dogs in the church parking lot. It looked like fun!! Which brings up another point. You bought a BBQ? That seems like something I would do. Did you get to take it with you or did you have too much stuff to take? It will be fun for you to have if you got to take it or the other missionaries in Ava can enjoy it if you had to leave it. It's all good no matter what happened. Do you still have a car or will you need to ride you bike? You haven't had to ride your bike too much so far.

That is awesome that you are a Zone Leader!! What are your responsibilities? You will be amazing I know!! Have you been able to meet many people yet? How is the work in Ft. Smith? How long has Elder Jensen been there? I think Elder Pack has also served there (his mom also commented on the same FB post. I also saw pictures of Elder Lopez on FB. He was visiting Joplin, MO for a concert from BYU-I. It is quite fun to see pictures of the Elders that you know.

I was also just looking at the Mission Blog and found a picture of you!! The series of pictures said after MLC so my question is, What is MLC? I am so excited and happy for you that you get to have these experiences. I know you are on the Lord errand doing His work and I am so proud of you!!

Thank you for sending pictures last week!! I love to see your cute faceSmile.

I will keep this short and write another letter to mail to you. This is the scripture that I want to share with you this week. I love 3 Nephi and Bishop Hayes shared this with us today talking about how He knows each one of us by name and Jesus ministers to us each as an individual. I just love that thought. So this is from 3 Nephi 17.

17 And no tongue can speak, neither can there be written by any man, neither can the hearts of men conceive so great and marvelous things as we both saw and heard Jesus speak; and no one can conceive of the joy which filled our souls at the time we heard him pray for us unto the Father.
18 And it came to pass that when Jesus had made an end of praying unto the Father, he arose; but so great was thejoy of the multitude that they were overcome.
19 And it came to pass that Jesus spake unto them, and bade them arise.
20 And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full.
21 And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them.
22 And when he had done this he wept again;
23 And he spake unto the multitude, and said unto them: Behold your little ones.
24 And as they looked to behold they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did minister unto them.
25 And the multitude did see and hear and bear record; and they know that their record is true for they all of them did see and hear, every man for himself; and they were in number about two thousand and five hundred souls; and they did consist of men, women, and children.

Keep working hard and enjoy your new area!! You are wonderful and amazing!!

I will love you forever
