Elder Walker

Lucas' Birthday

nothing too much happening with them. i just dont teach according to their style or do missionary work the way they wanted me to. i talked to elder lopez about this cause he went through the same thing in one of his areas and he told me "dont work for the members or anybody else. do the work for you and for the lord and youll feel much better about it and yourself" and so yeah it was some good advice.

thats crazy he is already 1! i swear it doesnt feel like its been a year already but it has.

so supposedly those storms hitting you over there are coming this way and apparently are going to cause some more flooding out here. i think i heard they are calling for like 7-8 inches of rain. dont worry i wont cross any flooded roads, or try not to at least.

but yeah the weather out here has been really nice! im wondering if were going to get a winter, i dont think so. the daffodils are already blooming in full force out here and the fields are all greening up again. so im currently out here in west plains and have my camera, so heres a few pictures!

anyways, i need to get going. love you!

Hi Drew,

How are you doing? Are you feeling any better about things this week? So what exactly happened with your ward members? There will always be times in your life when people say hurtful things. I remember one time when I was the Primary President (I was 23 then) I had a Primary Teacher that never taught his class. I called to talk to him about it one time and his wife yelled at me for expecting him to fulfill his calling. I was kind of upset by that. I understand now that people are just like that. Remember that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can help you get through those times. You are wonderful and amazing and I love you and so does Heavenly Father!!

Do you remember Karah Whittaker? She is the girl that worked at Learning Tree that knows Josh? Anyway she is coming home from her mission this Wednesday. She went out in September before you did. She served in North Carolina. Her sister works at Learning Tree now so I have been able to keep track of her a little.

We celebrated Lucas' birthday today. He is so cute!! I sent you some pictures that I took with my phone hopefully that got there. Dad and I got him the same Thomas Train riding toy that we got for Christian. We also got him some clothes. Hilary got him some cool blocks that make noise and things. Jeremy got him a bubble mower that he will really like when they move into their house. Ryan and Carolyn got him mega blocks, wooden blocks, puzzles and a wooden train set. He had a great time playing in his birthday cupcakes. He didn't eat much of them though. His actual birthday is on Wednesday but Carolyn works that night and Ryan has class so we celebrated it today. He will be with us on Wednesday so I got him another present to open that day also.

It is snowing here tonight. The weather has been so nice lately. It has been in the 60's and so warm and beautiful. Lucas loves to play outside and explore everything and the weather has been great for that. Then today it started to rain and then it turned into snow. We do need the water and all my flowers are dry and need the water so I am actually grateful that it is stormy. I just hope it doesn't last to long.

I will keep this short because I know you don't have much time on the computer. I really do wish I could see a picture of you!! Oh well I am sure you will be transferred someday and will then be able to send some. I will also write another letter and mail it now.

The scripture I want to share with you this week is D&C 121:7-9

7 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
8 And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.
9 Thy friends do stand by thee, and they shall hail thee again with warm hearts and friendly hands.

Remember you are wonderful!!

I will love you forever
