Prairie Grove, Arkansas

Elder Thomas

so i realized that last week i forgot to email you telling you about my favorite scripture. well, i dont really know right now. but when i figure it out ill let you know!

so to answer your question yes i have been able to see elder lopez since he's been back here. got to hang out with him at a service project on saturday and today were playing some ball so that will be fun!

so we just got hit by a storm not too long ago but it wasnt that bad. and it cooled things down pretty hardcore so its been awesome lately.

so yeah we still do service at the thrift store. last time we were there this old guy came and told us we were "barking up the wrong tree" we run into him a lot there. every time we just bear testimony and walk away. i think its kind of funny how crazy he is towards us. like everyone there tells these stories about how awesome he is. i still havent seen anything fun. but thats cause everytime we see him he's not happy to see us.

anyways, thats about it for me. i heard about the utes and was pretty bummed about that. but thats ok. were still doing better than BYU!

so, one more thing, could you put some money on my home card? i think ill be getting a flu shot soon. and also am going to buy a new SD card for my camera cause im now out of space.

anyways, love you! have a good week! ill keep them all in my prayers!

Hello to my very favorite Elder!!

How are you? How is life in Arkansas? How is the work? Tell me about some of the people you are working with. Are you still doing service at the Thrift store? Have you been able to see Elder Lopez yet? How is the weather? Are you getting any rain left over from the Hurricane? I know that Texas is getting a lot of rain from it.

Well, I finally have been accepted to be part of the Arkansas Bentonville Mission Facebook page. I am not sure why they sort of ignored my request for so long but today I saw a post from a sister on the Missionary Mommas page and she was from your mission. So I commented that I would like to be part of that group and she got me accepted!! It turns out that she lives in the ward where Bruce Westwood is the Bishop and where the Dugdales live. She lives in Webb City which is by Joplin. It is such a small world. I have been looking at the facebook page tonight and haven't seen any pictures of you yet but maybe I will post some now. I have seen a few of Elder Lopez and one of Elder Hall (his mother is on here also) and I have seen quite a few of Elder Wilde and some posts about Elder Gerhing. I think it will be fun to see all of these pictures and posts.

There have been some major illnesses in the ward this week. Myrna Chadwick had her other knee replaced and has gone to a care center for at least a week. I think she will be there maybe 2 weeks or so. Karen Cutler went to Las Vegas with her son and Ron to see their grand daughter and she had a stroke. She is in a care center in Vegas for a few weeks. I talked to her yesterday and she sounded good. Her speech wasn't affected but she has a little weakness on her right side. She was glad it wasn't her left side because she is left handed. Donna Jephson is very ill and spent some time in ICU and then was transferred to a care center. They took her back to the hospital yesterday to have some testing done on her kidneys and she is supposed to transferred back to the care facility tomorrow. Tonya King and Mary Laird also had surgery this week. Please pray for all of these people.

Our family is also having some health issues. Hilary is having surgery tomorrow. It's not too big of a deal it's out patient surgery. She is having another ovarian cyst removed and it shouldn't be too long but please pray for her also. Carolyn's dad was diagnosed with leukemia. The prognosis is very good. They said that he has 20-30% change with chemo and bone marrow transplants. Only 2 to 3 months without treatment. They are a little more optimistic now because Walt is in such great shape. He walks everyday and his heart and everything are strong. This means that all of my married children's spouses have a parent that are fighting cancer. It is very sad. Please pray for all of them.

Dee, Mira, McKell, and Kelsey came down yesterday and we went to Witches' Night out at Gardner Village. We had a great time. It seems like it gets bigger every year. The lines were so long that I didn't even attempt to buy anything. We went to dinner and then walked around for awhile. It was fun to be with them and to talk to Dee.

We have made arrangements to go California for Christian's baptism. We will be going down on November 20th and driving back on November 24th. That will be a couple of days before Thanksgiving so I will have time to get ready for Thanksgiving. Phil and Anna are going to Anna's mother's house for Thanksgiving this year and dad has to be home because all the Steenbliks are out of town and dad needs to be at work. Tuesday is Christian's birthday. Can you believe he is going to be 8? I still think of him as just a little boy but he is growing up.

Take care of yourself, study and pray, be obedient and work hard!!

The scripture I want to share with you today is Alma 32:15 &16.

15 Yea, he that truly humbleth himself, and repenteth of his sins, and endureth to the end, the same shall be blessed—yea, much more blessed than they who are compelled to be humble because of their exceeding poverty.
16 Therefore, blessed are they who humble themselves without being compelled to be humble; or rather, in other words, blessed is he that believeth in the word of God, and is baptized without stubbornness of heart, yea, without being brought to know the word, or even compelled to know, before they will believe.

I will love you forever!!
