so yeah most of the weather this week missed us. we had a thunderstorm between tuesday night/ wednesday morning? sometime around there. it wasnt too exciting. the thunder wasnt as loud. the lightning wasnt constant, and the rain didnt come down as heavy. so i wasnt very worried. but elder stubbs was up and about freaking out and stuff. i told him to check the phone and if we had a text from that imminent threat weather alert thing again that wed go to the church for the remainder of the night/morning. but we didnt have anything. like i said, i wasnt very worried. i know my tornado signs. there werent any haha. he says that thunder was louder than last weeks. but to be fair he slept through last weeks somehow. he said last weeks didnt shake our house but this one did. well, yes it did, but not like the one i was freaking out about haha. but parts of like northern-ish missouri got hit pretty hard apparently? and i heard that a torndao hit illinois? i think the people around here are crazy. they all talk about how dangerous it could be especially since were so close to joplin. that bugs me. just because joplin got hit by a massive storm doesnt mean that joplin just produces big tornadoes. a freak of nature tornado could happen anywhere. the elements just have to line up correctly to produce one. i dont usually say that though. i just agree with the people cause thats what they want to hear. the only person i called out on that was my companion haha. i just told him exactly what i just told you, and he said it makes sense. so yeah, learning experience.

so our zone leaders still havent been able to make it out here yet to talk to dallas (angry baptist guy) but hopefully soon. i want to go back over there and see those guys.

oh, so, i dont really want to tell you or the missionaries in our ward what to do, but just something to think about. so we recently started a book of mormon study class. it especially works great out here cause everyone out here loves to "bible study." so we started a class, and so the first day we read the introduction and watched the mormon message by elder holland "testimony of the book of mormon." and it was pretty awesome. then the next week we talked and explained more about the different plates and answered any more questions they have and stuff and read 1 nephi 1. then after that, we just take maybe 2 or 3 chapters depending on the size of the chapters and read those as a class and every 10 verses we stop and talk about it. we started off by stopping after every 5 but decided the flow works better if we go every 10. so we told all of our investigators, less actives, and announced it in our branch and all of that. its just a good way to get members involved with our investigators, cause they get to meet them and talk with them, and get the less actives involved again. so it just benefits everyone. like elder lopez would say in church while announcing it "you can never read the book of mormon too many times." so, like i said, not trying to tell y'all what to do, just a suggestion. cause i can tell you it is working great.

so this past week was pretty slow, elder stubbs got sick so we had a couple off days. so yeah, not a very fast-paced week. but this past week we were able to set a baptismal date with one of our investigators! actually, she set it with us! so were pretty stoked about that. it will be after i get transferred though so im pretty bummed. hopefully id be able to get to come back and see it. well, i dont know for sure that id get transferred, but its likely to happen. and this week we hope to set at least one more with this other lady that weve been seeing pretty regularly and often. she tends to just push back her baptismal dates though. missionaries have set dates with her in the past and have had to push them back. so we will see how it goes.

so the scripture i wanted to leave with y'all this week would be 1 nephi 1:12. simple and to the point. like ive said in the past "small and simple means." short scriptures that get to the point are the way to go. and elder stubbs has said that he believes that this is one of the most important scriptures in the book of mormon. and i dont doubt that at all.

but anyways thats about it for this week. have a great week! love you!
so no, i havent been sick. i got a cold in the MTC but other than that ive been healthy! so wait, who is emailing me right now? are both of you emailing me? i have a picture of the front of the truck that i love but it wont let me send it. stupid thing. and did you get the picture of me? and yes, my suits are on a hanger in the closet. i do need to break them out every wednesday for district meeting and every sunday for church. im really beginning to hate suits...

The pictures of the vehicles are great and I am sure dad loves them, but I would rather have pictures of you!!
The Book of Mormon class sounds great! We had one in our last Stake years ago and I really loved it. It was taught by a Seminary teacher that lived in the Stake. I really learned a lot from it. I will mention it to our Sisters!! They are great!

You have mentioned that both of your companions have been sick have you ever been sick? You have never said that you have.

oh yeah, haha oops. yes i have one, but no, our area wouldnt work well with a bike so we ride them very often. or at all. ive ridden it like once i believe. oh, so todd hasnt emailed me yet. im sure he's just busy. but if you could just let him know that id love to hear from him thatd be great!
oh, so this week we went over to a guys house who has a bunch of old cars and i got a picture of like 2 of them and i thought dad would enjoy to hear about them. so he has a 71 gran torino (im not sure how to spell it) a 51 ford pickup. (picture included.) he has a mustang from the 60's but im not sure which year. (picture included of that one as well.) he has a 51 and a 53 victoria, an etzel. im not sure what year, but theres only 3 years they made etzel's so yeah. a galaxie, which im in love with, but its covered in dust and stuff right now so i dont have a picture. and he has another mustang i want to say its a 69? yeah that sounds right. but so i only have pictures of the truck and the white mustang cause those are the 2 that are the cleanest right now. i think the highest miles are on the 69 mustang. and its about 69,000 miles i believe. so these cars are in way good condition. but yeah, i just thought dad would enjoy hearing this. i am in love with the truck it is beautiful (minus the dent) he is a farmer, so he said that that dent happened when one of his cows ran into it with its horn and put that big dent in the side. but this truck only has 48,000 miles. so other than that it is in like mint condition.

i actually have told him i want to buy it from him. do they make a 4 door hard top? i know for a fact that it is a hard top. but i didnt pay attention to how many doors it has. he said that soon he is going to take them all out of his barn and clean them up. so i told him that when he does we would be more than happy to help him out. so we can get some pictures of the clean cars and so i can get out of my proselyting clothes too.

yep suit coat season is over! seem to have lost my pocket tag though and dont really feel like ordering a new one, and i make fun of the elders who wear their magnet tags on their shirt pockets. and i dont want to be a hypocrite (sarcasm) so ive been wearing my sweaters even though its blazing hot. pic: i found some insense in my apartment and i thought of elder gehring so i took this picture and sent it to him. so dont ask too many questions haha
